Job Title: Drafter 2

Location: Birmingham, AL 35203

Duration: 12 months

 

Job Summary

The Drafter II is responsible for providing CAD drafting support for transmission line projects, including centerline right-of-way, boundary, topographic, and land tie surveys. The role requires the ability to interpret survey data and prepare accurate metes and bounds or centerline descriptions for assigned projects. This position also supports survey field crews and office personnel through research, coordination, and project documentation activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform CAD drafting for:
    • Transmission line centerline right-of-way surveys
    • Boundary surveys
    • Topographic surveys
    • Land tie surveys
  • Interpret survey data and prepare:
    • Metes and bounds descriptions
    • Centerline descriptions
  • Support survey field crews and office staff by:
    • Researching existing survey records
    • Researching real estate and property records
    • Contacting local and state agencies to obtain right-of-way information
    • Assisting with the preparation and transmission of completed project deliverables
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of drafting and project documentation.

Experience Required:

  • 2 to 5 years of drafting experience
  • Associate’s degree in Drafting and Design preferred

  • Associate’s degree in Drafting and Design or a related field
  • Strong CAD drafting skills
  • Knowledge of surveying principles, right-of-way documentation, and land records
