Job description

Overview
The Department of Biomedical and Translational Sciences (BTS), Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences Eastern Virginia Medical School at Old Dominion University (ODU) seeks exceptional applicants in its research division for a tenure-track / tenured faculty position at the ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE/ or FULL PROFESSOR level. Located in Norfolk's historic Ghent neighborhood, the institution offers a highly collaborative academic environment with access to major hospital partners, extensive core facilities, and broad research infrastructure.
The successful candidate will join a collegial department of over 50 faculty members across its Research and Education Divisions. We are seeking individuals with expertise in inflammation, epigenetics and genomics, metabolism or systems biology to complement departmental strengths in cancer, cardiovascular and pulmonary disease, neuroscience and women's and infant's health. We are particularly interested in outstanding candidates who can thrive in a transdisciplinary research environment and can collaborate with faculty in the Center for Integrative Neuroscience and Inflammatory Diseases, the Leroy T. Canoles Jr. Cancer Center and the newly established Brock Institute for Nutrition Science and Health.
BTS faculty have access to a centralized biorepository, histological services, state-of-the-art proteomics and genomics facilities, data analytic infrastructure, and collaborative interactions with faculty in clinical departments and across the ODU campus, enabling strong integration of basic, translational and clinical research.
Successful applicants will conduct transformative basic and translational research that advances scientific discovery and enhances human health, have a strong track record of publications, proven or high potential for sustained extramural funding, and a clear commitment to collaboration.

Qualifications
Qualifications: Applicants must hold a PhD, MD or MD/PhD, and have relevant postdoctoral research experience, along with a strong record of publication. Candidates for Associate or Full Professor should demonstrate an established, extramurally funded research program, a strong publication record, and national recognition in their field.
Rank and salary: The successful applicant will hold a full-time academic appointment in the BTS department at a rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary will be competitive and accompanied by comprehensive benefits and a strong start-up package.
