THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Associate/Senior Associate is a member of the team's investment group and contributes to the sourcing, evaluation, execution, and monitoring of infrastructure investments, with a focus on publicly traded infrastructure businesses.

The role provides exposure to global infrastructure investment opportunities and the opportunity to work alongside experienced investors in a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong corporate finance and investment analysis capabilities, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a long-term investment mindset.

The position may be filled at either the Associate or Senior Associate level, depending on experience.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH:

On behalf of BCI's clients, the Infrastructure & Renewable Resources (I&RR) team invests globally in infrastructure assets and businesses that provide stable long-term investment returns. BCI's I&RR portfolio has $32+ billion in AUM and ranks as the ninth largest institutional infrastructure investor globally. The portfolio spans a range of sectors including energy, transport, utilities, and data infrastructure as well as tangible assets such as timberland and agriculture.

I&RR seeks meaningful investmentspredominantly inprivate companies that allow us to pursue an active management and governance approach. The team invests in a variety of capacities in private markets including as a sole sponsor, co-sponsor, and very selectively through externally managedfunds. In addition, I&RR takes positions in listed infrastructure businesses as well as debt investments as complementary strategies to private markets investments.

In 2023, the I&RR teamestablishedtheir first international presence with the inauguration of their London, U.K. office. The new London office serves as a strong platform for the team to originate and manage investments in the U.K. and European markets, further solidifying BCI's commitment to global expansion and diversification.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Undergraduate university degree or completion of an MBA, CFA is an asset

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in infrastructure investing (public or private markets), investment banking, or equity research

  • Financial modelling, valuation, and analytical expertise

  • Excellent communication skills, intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and a passion for investing

  • Ability to build effective working relationships and contribute in a collaborative team environment

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Conduct industry, company, and investment research across global infrastructure markets

  • Evaluate direct investment opportunities through financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, and investment research

  • Assess investment opportunities, including historical asset performance, competitive positioning, management quality, and key value drivers

  • Support transaction execution, including due diligence, financial modelling, and investment recommendations

  • Monitor portfolio investments and contribute to investment theses, performance assessments, and portfolio reviews

  • Prepare valuation analyses and portfolio reporting materials

  • Contribute to the development of long-term portfolio strategies and tactical investment initiatives

  • Support sourcing, origination, and relationship-building activities across infrastructure markets

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including management teams, advisors, and investment partners

  • Travel, as required, to support due diligence, transaction execution, and portfolio oversight

WHERE YOU WILL WORK

This role will be based in our office in downtown Victoria, BC.

SALARY RANGE

The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role isCAD $120,000 - $150,000.

BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration for internal equity and job structure. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
