Job description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing equipment to support safe and efficient production operations.

This position may be filled at the Maintenance Technician I, II, or III level based on the selected candidate's combination of education, technical training, certifications, demonstrated skills, and relevant maintenance experience. As technicians progress through each level, they are expected to demonstrate increasing proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, automation, and independent problem-solving.

Primary Duties:

  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs complex mechanical, electrical & hydraulic equipment and distribution systems involving work of a varied nature.
  • Uses all hand tools, power tools and diagnostic instruments skillfully.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of windows-based computers and software for the purpose of troubleshooting and programming PLC's.
  • Analyze and document test results.
  • Diagnose root cause of electrical, mechanical or hydraulic malfunctions.
  • Support and follow all safety procedure and rules.
  • Capable of working from drawings, verbal, instructions, or sketches.
  • Knowledgeable as well as skilled in reading blueprints and electrical/electronic circuit drawings.

Secondary Duties:

  • Perform Daily Preventative Maintenance.
  • Address any downtime issues with equipment in a timely manner.
  • Maintain good housekeeping habits throughout work area and shop.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
  • Completes routine paperwork as required.

Position Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

This position may be hired at the Maintenance Technician I, II, or III level. Placement will be based on the candidate's education, certifications, technical aptitude, demonstrated competencies, and relevant maintenance experience.

Maintenance Technician I
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
  • Experience performing mechanical repairs and basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Capable of performing electrical troubleshooting and repairs on equipment and building systems up to 120 VAC.
  • Currently enrolled in, or willing to complete, approved electrical training or on-the-job development toward Maintenance Technician II.
Maintenance Technician II
  • Technical school degree, Electrical Certificate, Associate Degree in Electrical Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Successfully passed the company's electrical aptitude assessment or possesses equivalent electrical credentials.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Capable of performing electrical troubleshooting and repairs on equipment and building systems up to 480 VAC.
Maintenance Technician III
  • Technical school degree, Electrical Certificate, or Associate Degree in Electrical Technology strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience or equivalent advanced maintenance experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical and electrical systems, schematic interpretation, and industrial troubleshooting.
  • Capable of troubleshooting and programming PLC-controlled equipment using a laptop computer.
  • Performs advanced electrical troubleshooting and repairs on equipment and building systems up to 480 VAC and serves as a technical resource for complex maintenance issues.
