Job description

The Network Systems Engineer is responsible for delivering quality infrastructure solutions to our clients with a high level of technical expertise and client satisfaction. You will routinely perform project-based installations and service-based engagements at client locations, with a primary focus on server, virtualization, and data center technologies. You are responsible for the management, administration, and integration of server platforms, hypervisor environments, and associated operating systems and services - from initial deployment through full architectural ownership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Deploy, support, and maintain physical server infrastructure from Dell and HPE platforms, including rack/blade servers, iDRAC/iLO management, firmware lifecycle, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Design, implement, and manage virtualization environments using VMware vSphere/vCenter and Microsoft Hyper-V, including cluster configuration, resource optimization, VM lifecycle management, and high availability.
  • Install, configure, and administer Windows Server operating systems across all current versions, including roles such as DNS, DHCP, IIS, File Services, and Certificate Services.
  • Architect and manage Microsoft Active Directory environments - domain design, Group Policy, OU structure, user/group administration, and identity integration.
  • Integrate and maintain high-performance server environments supporting resource-intensive workloads, including advanced data center solutions, storage area networks (SAN/NAS), and hybrid cloud connectivity.
  • Consolidate and migrate server workloads across physical and virtual platforms, including P2V and V2V migrations between client environments and technologies.
  • Support network services as they relate to server infrastructure - switching, routing, firewalls, and network security - with the ability to troubleshoot end-to-end across the stack.
  • Design, implement, and validate backup and disaster recovery solutions; work closely with client technical staff to ensure proper implementation and ongoing verification.
  • Perform capacity planning, growth analysis, and system utilization reviews, and make technical recommendations that improve efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Develop and follow Marco best practices and operational procedures; create and maintain visual and written documentation for all deployed environments.
  • Provide on-call and escalation support to clients and internal teams on server, virtualization, and directory service issues.
  • Install and upgrade software on server platforms, including OS patching, role/feature updates, and hypervisor upgrades.
  • Plan and manage service requests independently from scoping through completion.
  • Accurately maintain documentation, time entry, pick tickets, and client signatures in compliance with service administrative procedures.
  • Consistently maintain a revenue-to-wage ratio of 2.5 or above.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and six years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience with demonstrated hands-on server and virtualization expertise.
  • Hands-on experience with Dell PowerEdge and/or HPE ProLiant server platforms required, including hardware configuration and management tools (iDRAC, iLO, OpenManage, OneView).
  • Demonstrated experience with VMware vSphere/vCenter and/or Microsoft Hyper-V in production environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server administration and Active Directory design and management.
  • Current industry certifications preferred, including one or more of the following: VCP (VMware Certified Professional), MCSE/MCSA/Microsoft Azure certifications, Dell EMC proven professional (EMC-PE, EMC-IE), HPE ASE or ATP, or CCNA.
  • Valid Driver's License, proof of personal insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
