Role Overview

We are actively seeking a skilled Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our technology-driven team supporting a critical government customer. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our operational security posture, ensuring that vital information systems are protected, compliant, and continuously monitored.

Key Responsibilities

Security Architecture & Engineering

  • Design, build, and integrate robust Information Assurance (IA) and security components across networks and multi-enclave environments with varying classification levels.
  • Partner with system architects and developers to embed security features directly into the engineering lifecycle, ensuring secure-by-design architectures.
  • Architect and evaluate cross-domain solutions, ensuring trusted data relationships between internal, external, and government systems.

Risk Management & Vulnerability Assessment

  • Lead comprehensive technical security assessments to identify system vulnerabilities, assess threats, and implement effective mitigation strategies throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Apply deep expertise in core IA principles, cryptography (COTS/GOTS), identity/access management, intrusion detection, auditing, and contingency planning.

Compliance & Authorization Leadership

  • Drive security authorization processes, ensuring strict alignment with NSA/CSS NISCAP, DoD RMF, NIST RMF, and related security engineering practices.
  • Oversee, review, and validate Certification and Accreditation (C&A) documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Enforce robust configuration and change management practices for all security-impacting system updates.

Technical Leadership & Advocacy

  • Serve as the principal security engineering representative for system integration efforts.
  • Provide expert-level guidance, evaluate the work of fellow security engineers, and collaborate with IT staff to achieve broader IA objectives.
  • Proactively advocate for, and recommend improvements to, organizational IA policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a closely related discipline. (Note: 4 additional years of direct ISSE experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree).
  • Experience: A minimum of Five (5) years of ISSE experience on programs of similar scale and complexity.
  • Recent Experience: Must include at least 4 recent years (within the last 4 years) of handsโ€‘on experience with core cybersecurity technologies and principles, including access control, identification and authentication, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and enterprise/network security architecture.

Certifications Required:

  • Must maintain DoD 8570 compliance with IAT III certification, a higher level ISSE position may require an IASAE II certification.

Position requires active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph

Pay Range:$ 155,000-$255,000
