Job description

Schema App is a fast-growing, profitable SaaS company headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, with a team across Canada. We’re a smart, collaborative group driven by a shared mission: to become a global leader in enterprise marketing technology and help organizations future-proof for the age of AI.
We work with some of the world’s most recognized enterprises, including SAP, Wells Fargo, and Henry Ford Health, to give them control over how their brand is understood and represented by AI across search and digital experiences.

At our core, we believe that in the age of AI, a brand is only as strong as the data behind it and the connections within it. As search evolves into AI-driven and agent-led experiences, that foundation becomes critical. That’s why we’re building the infrastructure enterprises need to control how they show up in AI today and compete in the agentic web tomorrow: driving growth, protecting their brand, and leading in the next generation of digital experiences.

Visit Schema App at  www.schemaapp.com or on LinkedIn.

As the Senior IT Engineer, you own Schema App’s internal IT function, ensuring our endpoints, identity, access, and infrastructure are reliable and secure while maintaining IT-owned SOC 2 controls.

This is a hands-on role that combines day-to-day IT ownership with technical project delivery. The role is approximately 50% internal IT operations and 50% project work across automation, AI/MCP, and DevOps.

As our internal IT owner, you’ll also regularly work from our Guelph, Ontario office to manage and rotate hardware and administer on-site IT services.

This role reports to the Software Engineering Manager.

Functional Accountabilities

  1. Internal IT Operations: Own identity and access, endpoints, Microsoft 365 / Entra, MDM/Intune, patching, device lifecycle, and employee onboarding/offboarding.
  2. Hardware & On-Site IT: Manage company hardware throughout its lifecycle and regularly administer on-site IT services at Schema App’s Guelph office.
  3. Security & SOC 2: Maintain IT-owned SOC 2 controls, including Vanta evidence, access reviews, device compliance, and required testing.
  4. Technical Project Delivery: Deliver Engineering-prioritized projects across internal IT, automation, AI/MCP, and DevOps.
  5. Documentation & Improvement: Maintain IT runbooks and continuously improve the security, reliability, and efficiency of internal systems.

Key Competencies

  1. Ownership & Problem Solving: Takes end-to-end accountability, diagnosing problems to root cause and following through to resolution.
  2. Endpoint & Identity Administration: Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 / Entra, MDM/Intune, identity and access, and device lifecycle management.
  3. Security & Compliance: Understands SOC 2 / Vanta-style controls and can independently maintain IT-owned compliance requirements.
  4. Technical Project Delivery: Scopes and ships technical work while balancing the demands of day-to-day IT operations.
  5. Automation & DevOps: Uses automation, scripting, AI, and DevOps practices to solve problems, reduce manual work, and improve internal systems.

Metrics

    • MSP scope internalized within 90 days, with no recurring dependency for owned services
    • ≥90% of employee IT tickets resolved internally; median first response ≤4 business hours
    • ≥95% of devices enrolled and meeting baseline compliance
    • Zero overdue critical IT-owned SOC 2 / Vanta tests at month-end
    • ≥40% of capacity dedicated to project work monthly, targeting ~50%, while meeting agreed commitments

    Schema App’s Core Values

    • Growth Mindset: You continuously build your skills across IT, security, automation, AI, and DevOps and look for better ways to operate.
    • Resourceful: You take problems through to resolution, using the tools, information, and expertise available to find practical solutions.
    • One Team: You partner effectively across Schema App to keep our people productive and our systems secure and reliable.
    • Humble: You bring strong technical judgment while knowing when to seek input, share what you learn, and remain open to better approaches.

AI-based tools may be used to support screening; all resumes are reviewed by a member of our team.
