Job description

On-Call Front Desk Associate

Join our team as an On-Call Front Desk Associate and provide outstanding customer service while creating a welcoming experience for guests. This on-call position offers flexible hours based on the Museum's operational needs, with no guaranteed number of hours. The Museum is open seven days a week, and shifts are typically scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Candidates should be available to cover shifts on short notice, including same-day requests.

The Front Desk Associate supports the mission of The Museum of Flight through a variety of customer focused tasks such as greet and direct visitors, answer and triage phone calls, and assists in maintaining the reception and related areas of the Museum's Main Campus. It is paramount this person represents The Museum of Flight, its Values, Vision, and Mission, with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.   1. Answer and triage incoming phone calls, voicemails, and emails.
  2. Actively work to be informed regarding current Museum activities, events, pricing, website, staffing, and organization information.
  3. Greet visitors, secure identification when necessary, and determine whom they wish to see.
  4. Announce visitors and direct them to the proper area when authorized.
  5. Communicate and coordinate with executive administrative staff regarding the needs and logistics of onsite functions with trustees, board members, and other relevant stakeholders.
  6. Perform various administrative support tasks that can be done while in the reception area.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a customer service or receptionist role. Additional experience in answering a multi-line phone is preferred.

Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of office reception functions, office equipment, and phone and reception etiquette.

Skills

  • Proven customer service skill with effective and efficient interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 including Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other meeting platforms, including Zoom.
  • Good attention to detail.

Abilities

  • Ability to successfully adapt to changing situations and shifting priorities; prioritize competing tasks in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and properly handle sensitive information.

Work Environment
  • The schedule for this position will be determined by the Supervisor.
  • May require working additional hours including evenings and weekends based on Museum need.
  • No travel is expected for this position.
Physical Demands
  • Onsite attendance is essential to fulfill the duties of this position.
  • Normal office conditions apply, including repetitive wrist and arm movement, including long periods of sitting or standing.
  • The ability to bend, carry, reach to the side, front and overhead, push, pull, focus, walk, stand, twist, and squat are frequent requirements in an office setting.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $22.04 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience.
