Informatics Project Coordinators provide: (1) support for informatics projects including project management and reporting, and (2) coordination with Maine CDC’s Infectious Disease Epidemiology Informatics team. Work is performed under administrative direction.
- Knowledge, Skills and Certifications
Specific qualifications needed to perform the job including, necessary licenses, knowledge, skills, education, experience, training, and technical skills.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health or related fields (Informatics, Biostatistics etc.), and 4 years of relevant experience
- Two (2) years relevant work experience and training in data manipulation and visualization software such as Alteryx, Excel, GIS, SAS, SQL, R Tableau, Python, etc.
- Communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Public Health, Informatics, or related field.
- At least two years of relevant work experience
Knowledge of:
- Data manipulation and visualization software

Specific duties required of the resource, as well as any expected deliverables, including necessary travel expectations.
- Coordinate and participate in informatics team and project meetings.
- Track project details within chosen tracking system.
- Ensure staff are meeting necessary timelines.
- Identify barriers to progress and work to eliminate them.
- Support informatics grant writing and performance measure reporting.
- Participate in Data Modernization Initiative efforts.
- Participate in and contribute to overall Infectious Disease Epidemiology Informatics Program planning and evaluation activities.
- Additional duties as reasonably assigned.
- Schedule
Summary of work schedule, including normal working hours, on-call expectations, allowed time off (which is non-billable), ability to work remote.
- These positions are full-time, with working hours of 8 AM – 5 PM Eastern Time, Monday-Friday. Modified schedules may be required as operationally required by Maine CDC. Hours worked over 45 are paid on a straight basis (hour for hour compensation) when specifically pre-approved in writing by the Maine CDC manager.
- Each resource must conform to the State working schedule (i.e., snow days, holidays etc.), if the State of Maine is working the contractor will be required to work.
- May routinely work remote five (5) days per week.
- All vacant positions must be approved by the Department prior to posting. If approved for hire, vacant positions must be posted publicly within seven (7) days of approval for a minimum of 14 days. All rates must be approved by the Maine CDC manager prior to an offer being made to the candidate.
- An additional 20 days PTO beyond the minimum (30 days total per year)
