What does an informatics pediatric nurse do when working remotely?

Informatics Pediatric Nurses are registered nurses who specialize in using information technology to improve pediatric patient care. When working remotely, they focus on tasks such as managing electronic health records, analyzing clinical data, training healthcare staff on new systems, and ensuring data accuracy and security. Their work helps streamline workflows, enhance communication, and improve health outcomes for children by optimizing the use of healthcare technology. Remote roles often involve collaborating with clinical teams, IT departments, and administrative staff via digital platforms.

What are common challenges faced by an informatics pediatric nurse working remotely, and how can they be addressed?

Informatics Pediatric Nurses working remotely often face challenges such as maintaining effective communication with clinical teams, ensuring data security when accessing sensitive patient records from home, and adapting to rapidly changing health informatics systems. To address these issues, it is important to establish clear protocols for virtual collaboration, utilize secure VPNs and encrypted platforms, and participate in ongoing training for new electronic health record (EHR) systems. Proactively scheduling regular check-ins with both IT and clinical teams can also help foster strong working relationships and address technical or workflow concerns promptly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an informatics pediatric nurse working remotely?

To thrive as an Informatics Pediatric Nurse in a remote setting, you need a strong background in pediatric nursing, informatics, and a current RN license, often supported by a BSN or MSN degree. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), clinical decision support systems, and healthcare data analytics platforms is essential, and certification in nursing informatics (e.g., ANCC) is highly valued. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills, especially for effective remote collaboration and project management. These skills ensure accurate data management, improved patient care processes, and effective teamwork in digital healthcare environments.

Job description

Pediatric ADHD Clinician Opportunity

Clarity Pediatrics is reimagining pediatric chronic care, starting with ADHD. Nearly 10% of people in the US are diagnosed with ADHD, and for parents, it can feel impossible to find the right care. We are building a virtual pediatric ADHD clinic that delivers trusted care to all families. Our new clinical model is tech-enabled, backed by the best science, and has the potential to deliver exceptional health outcomes to transform a child's trajectory. In the future, our pediatric care platform will expand rapidly to other common chronic conditions like asthma, allergies, and obesity.

Our co-founders and leadership team have deep commitment to clinical excellence and domain expertise in healthcare. Our CEO, Christina LaMontagne, has led two startups and earned her MBA at Harvard Business School. Our Chief Medical Officer, Alesandro Larrazabal, MD, trained at UCSF and Stanford. Until recently, he was a Medical Director building specialty care services at Kaiser Permanente. Earlier, he worked at IDEO.

What Makes This Role Unique

Opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary clinical team dedicated to providing integrated care to patients and families. We aim to give our providers the tools they need to provide excellent care including collaboration with peers, guidance from ADHD experts and researchers, and opportunities to pursue ongoing professional development.

Our team is dedicated to setting clinicians up for success, and you'll be encouraged to help us make improvements to our care models, workflows, and clinical tools in order to make your work easier and more enjoyable.

We encourage our clinicians to develop special areas of interest and expertise to become leaders within the team. We provide ongoing training opportunities to gain new skills as well as stipends for additional learning and development.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes MD's, nurse practitioners, psychologists and other clinicians to provide excellent care.
  • Complete administrative work and clinical documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Contribute to implementation, evaluation and program development iteration to ensure optimal delivery of care.
  • This is a clinical position, but there may be opportunities to expand and grow into program development, and other leadership activities, depending on employee interest and company needs.
Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice medicine in California

  • Confidence in using an electronic medical record and telemedicine tools to deliver virtual care and support to families
  • Excitement about joining a startup and interest in learning new technologies and tools
