CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills (CSRH-WH) is a 253-bed hospital serving the fastest- growing area of San Antonio. Specialized care includes orthopedic and surgical care with advanced spine surgery, Intensive Care, complex neurology for treating stroke and other neurovascular issues, comprehensive cardiovascular care from diagnostics to open heart surgery, vascular lab, sleep center, women’s services, a newborn nursery, the CHRISTUS Weight Loss Institute, wound care, rehabilitation, emergency services, and more. The campus also boasts an Outpatient Imaging Center, an Ambulatory Surgery Center, and four medical plazas, one of which houses our CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Health Center. 

Summary:

A 52-week post-graduate educational training program under the direction of an advanced pharmacy preceptor(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Develops knowledge, skills, and experience to become an advanced pharmacy clinician who manages and improves the medication use process ensuring safe, appropriate, and cost-effective therapies for patients.
  • Develops and expands upon the knowledge and skills required to provide evidence based, patient-centered medication therapy management within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Develops leadership skill to effect change within the pharmacy clinical and operation sections of acute care hospitals.
  • Expands upon and improves the pharmacotherapeutic knowledge and communication skills required to provide medication, therapeutics, and practice related education.
  • Develops the knowledge and skills to utilize medical informatics by utilizing the informatics tool available at CHRISTUS.
  • Assumes roles and responsibilities also listed in Clinical Pharmacist I job description.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • Graduate from an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program required

Experience

  • No experience required

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • Must be licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure within 90 days from first day of employment unless a formal program extension is approved for extenuating circumstances, as guided per ASHP
  • BLS required
  • ACLS or PALS required (if pediatric practice)

In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame.
