Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Data/Information Architect (Managing Architect), this challenging position involves thought leadership, management skills and technical expertise. 

Lead and collaborate in strategic initiatives like Enterprise Data Modeling, Master Data Management (MDM), Reference Data Management (RDM), Metadata Management, Big Data, Data Quality and Governance, Data Warehousing, BI & Analytics. 

Develop a flexible and scalable architecture for an integrated information environment that will enable cost effective solutions to meet business requirements. 

Establish guiding principles, standards and best practices for business driven data architecture and related technologies from an enterprise perspective. 

Provide Reference Architecture Framework for Data Management, BI and Analytics domains/functions. 

Provide a roadmap with timelines for existing environments to migrate to the future state architected environment. 

Provide architectural guidance to Regulatory Data Programs like Dodd-Frank CCAR, Basel, RISE, and other Risk and, new and in-flight LOB specific projects 

This will require pro-active coordination with other teams within the enterprise. A key success factor will be the ability to build and sustain consensus across the teams involved and ensure a high degree of compliance. 

Provide data strategy and governance leadership for data architecture and develop technology solutions that align to the objectives and standards of the enterprise Data Management Strategy. 

Articulate, oversee and provide direction to project data architects who are responsible for producing project data deliverables. 

Perform high level tracking of project progress, with respect to data architecture deliverables, to ensure timely delivery and efficient staffing and use of data architecture resources. 

Provide thought leadership through contribution to the creation and continuous refinement of capabilities and best practices within the data management organization. 

Develop and build strong relationships within and across lines of business and use communication skills to influence and accomplish strategic data architecture objectives. 

Research/analyze business requirements to evaluate and recommend optimal solutions within technology architecture Provide guidance on Data Integration, Data Warehousing, DataMart's, database analysis, design, and build effort

Ensure that the database designs fulfill the requirements, including data volume, frequency needs, and long-term data growth 

Provide guidance on Big Data/Hadoop architecture, BI reporting & Analytics 

Provide Guidance on Data Model Management, MDM, RDM, Metadata Management, Data Life Cycle Management, Data Security, and DQ. 

Contribute and/or conduct ongoing assessments of Banking Regulatory data architecture strategy, influencing Business and IT decisions as necessary to ensure consistency in approach over time. 

Support the development, documentation, communication and execution of a comprehensive regulatory data architecture strategy, policies and solutions. 

Contribute to and/or develop the process by which decisions will be made regarding technology standards 

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in an Enterprise Data Architecture/Design role, preferably in the Financial Services sector 

Experience in Retail & Commercial Banking and Regulatory reporting like Basel, Dodd-Frank etc. 

Experience in people management (i.e. coaching, team leadership, performance reviews) 

Expertise in Enterprise Data Modeling (Conceptual & Logical & Physical Data Models) 

Experience in Data Warehouse/Data Marts Modeling (Relational/Dimensional Data Models) 

Expertise in Data Integration, ODS, Data Warehousing and BI reporting & Analytics Architecture & Implementation. 

Expertise in Master and Reference Data Management Architecture, Modeling and Implementation 

Experience in Metadata Management Architecture and Implementation. 

Experience in Data Quality & Data Governance 

Experience in Big Data Architecture 

Experience or knowledge of service-oriented architecture and design concepts, e.g., canonical modeling 

Strong relational database experience - DB2, Oracle, SQL Server preferred) 

Experience with Data Modeling Tools - Power Designer, Erwin preferred) 

Experience with ETL tools - Data Stage, Informatica preferred 

Experience with the special purpose data appliances - Netezza, Exadata preferred 

Experience with BI Reporting and Analytics - Cognos, SAS, Business Objects, Tableau preferred. 

Preferred: Ability to develop or revise the database architecture as new data requirements arise Big Data technology (e.g. Hadoop), MDM (e.g. IBM InfoSphere MDM or Informatica MDM), Metadata Management (e.g. Rochade or Informatica Metadata Manager), Data Quality (IBM DQ or Informatica DQ), Data Life Cycle Management (e.g. IBM Optim or Informatica ILM), NOSQL Databases (e.g. Cassandra, Mongo DB)
