Job description

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Senior Director, Medical Information Services manages the daily activities, general supervision and coordination of the inpatient medical record processing areas assuming and exercising line authority as delegated to include supervision of the management staff and systems. Develops and implements policies and procedures. Plans improvements in work processes and personnel functions. Assists in the preparation of annual budget requests and monitors expenditures against allocated budget funds. Promotes the University Health System's guest relations policy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
An Associates degree or Bachelor's degree from an approved program for Health Information Management or related field with at least one year of medical records experience required. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Current credentials as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required. Expert knowledge of Joint Commission standards and applicable licensure regulations are required. Expert knowledge of medical record processes and systems are required. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
