DXP Enterprises is seeking a Jr Application Developer to design, develop, and maintain our Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems that exchange business documents in standardized formats between DXP and our trading partners. In this role, you will build and maintain data maps, integrate EDI with our ERP platforms, and ensure secure, accurate, and automated data transfer that reduces manual effort and supports the business at scale.
This is a hands-on technical role with significant cross-functional visibility. You will work closely with internal business associates, IT teams, and external customer and supplier contacts to onboard new trading partners, resolve production issues, and continuously improve the reliability of our integrations.
Responsibilities of the Jr Applications Developer include, but are not limited to:
· EDI Mapping & Translation: Develop, test, and implement EDI maps for various formats including ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML, and flat files
· System Integration: Integrate EDI solutions with existing ERP software (P21, Infor M3) and other backend applications, ensuring clean and reliable data flow in both directions
· Support & Troubleshooting: Monitor daily EDI transactions and troubleshoot communication protocols such as AS2, FTP/SFTP, and HTTPS
· Trading Partner Implementation: Onboard new customers and vendors by configuring trading partner profiles, building or modifying maps, and conducting end-to-end testing
· Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation for EDI processes, maps, specifications, and trading partner setups so that knowledge is preserved and transferable
· Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between DXP business associates and external trading partners, translating business requirements into reliable technical implementations
Day-to-Day Activities
A typical day in this role includes:
· Monitoring and resolving EDI processing error emails throughout the day
· Reviewing and addressing document requests, including resends and missing documents
· Reviewing unacknowledged EDI documents (e.g., missing 997s/CONTRLs) and following up with trading partners as needed
· Supporting active supplier and customer integrations — attending project meetings, setting up new connections, updating mappings, processing inbound and outbound test documents, and communicating with trading partners throughout testing and go-live
· Coordinating with internal teams (purchasing, customer service, accounting, IT) to investigate and resolve data discrepancies
Qualifications of the Jr Applications Developer include, but are not limited to:
Required Technical Skills
· Proficiency in SQL, including writing queries and stored procedures to investigate transaction data
· Strong working knowledge of XML and flat-file data structures
· Knowledge of ANSI X12 and EDIFACT standards and common transaction sets (e.g., 850, 855, 856, 810, 846, 997)
· Experience with EDI communication protocols such as AS2, FTP/SFTP, and HTTPS.
· Experience integrating EDI with ERP systems; familiarity with Prophet 21 (P21) and/or Infor M3 is a strong plus
· Hands-on experience with an EDI platform such as OpenText Liaison ECS / Delta is preferred. Experience with comparable platforms (OpenText Trading Grid, IBM Sterling, Cleo, SPS Commerce, TrueCommerce, etc.) will also be considered
Key Competencies
· Analytical thinking — ability to map complex data between disparate systems and trace issues end-to-end
· Strong written and verbal communication — comfortable serving as a liaison with external trading partners and internal DXP business associates
· Detail-oriented — committed to data integrity and accurate documentation
· Ownership mindset — takes initiative to monitor, follow up, and close the loop on open issues without prompting
· Ability to manage multiple concurrent integrations and support requests while keeping production stable
· Acceptable driving record according to company guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field (equivalent experience considered)
· 3+ years of experience in an EDI developer, integration developer, or application developer role
· Exposure to industrial distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain environments.
· Familiarity with Azure services, .NET, or related development ecosystems used at DXP
