Job description

The intern will report to the Digital Operations Manager and will assist in all aspects of elevating the design and promotion of our content, writing stories, producing videos, curating photo galleries, and helping us achieve our digital goals.

Our mission is clear: IndyStar informs, empowers and inspires the people of Central Indiana with our journalism. We deliver journalism that is essential to the communities we serve with urgency. We are a people-centered newsroom that’s obsessed with thoughtful experimentation and developing our next generation of industry leaders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage home page and send push alerts to engage a loyal audience.
  • Monitor SEO trends in our market, track our daily progress to goals and make recommendations for new content or adjustments to existing content. Familiarity with Parse.ly, Google Analytics and Google Trends a plus.
  • Create engaging social media posts on all relevant platforms, editing video or creating graphics as needed.
  •  Provide digital production on content including the creation of infographics, relevant embeds and ensuring SEO and production best practices are followed.

We are particularly interested in working with interns who feel comfortable working with our sports desk as much as our news desk.
