Job description

The Operations Data Strategy & Enablement (ODSE) team is seeking highly motivated and curious individuals who are excited to leverage data to improve the operations.

ODSE enables the Operations Analytics organization by providing a unified, modern data foundation that improves data quality, accelerates insights, and empowers faster, smarter decisionmaking across the business.

The Co-Op will work closely with analytics professionals in the operation supporting one of the following functions or departments: 

       Integrated Operations Planning (IOP) - Optimizing aircraft schedule and resource availability to maintain peak on-time performance 

  • Operations Digital & Decision Science (ODDS) - Developing decision science tools and digital product solutions
  • Corporate Safety, Security & Compliance (CSSC) - Supporting the safety and security of the airline and its employees
  • Airport Customer Service (ACS) - Improving airport processes and managing performance
  • Crew - Improving Pilot and Flight Attendant operations and performance efficiency
  • Delta Connection (DC) - Supporting end to end analytics and cross-divisional operational initiatives and improvements for the operation of Delta's regional airlines
  • Flight Operations (FOP) - Managing aircraft and gate to gate operations and performance
  • Onboard Services (OBS) - Optimizing process, supply, and inventory of inflight products and services
  • In-Flight Services (IFS) - Enhancing customer onboard experience and catering operations and performance
  • Operations & Customer Center (OCC) -Ttracking on-time flight metrics, weather, day-of flight analyses
  • Central - Managing centralized operations and competitive performance analyses

Though individual responsibilities will vary by supporting division, some functional examples include:

  • Analytics engineering - build data pipelines & re-usable patterns (ETL/ELT) that transform raw sources into curated, analysisready datasets
  • Data modeling - curate an operations-oriented ontology to build a scalable semantic layer
  • Data governance - steward good data management processes & standards (documentation, quality, access control, lineage, catalog)
  • Data wrangling - research, analyze, and interpret operational data to solve complex business problems
  • Technical data product management - drive "product" mindset for building scalable data solutions that provide business value
  • Automated reporting - develop frameworks that enable faster reports & dashboards for insights generation
  • Data platform testing - pilot and test out new data platform and tools that may benefit the operations analytics organization
  • Data optimization - identify opportunities to enhance operational metrics & processes

Students are required to complete three alternating semesters of work and school; all rotations must be completed before the student's graduation. Note: Students are not permitted to work part-time hours and should refrain from taking classes and working as a co-op in the same semester. The full-time work schedule for this role, while remaining actively enrolled in an approved undergraduate curriculum, is as follows:

  • Fall 2026
  • Summer 2027
  • Spring 2028
