Job description

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a rewarding role dedicated to supporting the educational journey of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This contract position, based on-site near Winston-Salem, offers the opportunity to work closely with students from PreK through 12th grade within a collaborative school environment. You'll play a pivotal part in delivering specialized instruction and participating in multidisciplinary teams—all while helping students reach their fullest potential.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Valid North Carolina Professional Educator License in Deaf and Hard of Hearing, or eligibility to obtain via reciprocity
  • School-based experience preferred, ideally with PreK–12 populations
  • Strong foundation working with children and adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, collaborating effectively with teachers, service providers, administrators, and families
  • Comfort and commitment to providing services in-person on campus
  • Familiarity with systems such as ECATS and Infinite Campus is a plus

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction aligned with students’ IEPs to support their learning needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education professionals, related service providers, administrators, and families to ensure cohesive support
  • Conduct assessments, contribute expertise to IEP development, and track progress
  • Maintain compliance with all district, state, and federal regulations, keeping accurate records and documentation
  • Actively participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team planning
  • Encourage and facilitate students’ academic, communication, and social growth

Assignment Details:

  • Part-time (29 hours per week)
  • On-site only, serving students from August 17, 2026, through June 4, 2027
  • Caseload spans PreK–12
