Position Summary
IMS is seeking adaptable, detail-oriented Strategic Communications professionals to support the development and execution of communication strategies for complex, mission-driven programs. This role blends strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and content production, helping translate technical work into clear, impactful messaging that drives awareness and program success.
Key Responsibilities (List not all inclusive):
Strategic Communications Planning & Execution
  • Support development and execution of strategic communications plans, including messaging, branding, and outreach initiatives
  • Align communication strategies with program goals, stakeholder priorities, and leadership direction
  • Contribute to campaigns that increase awareness of program outcomes, capabilities, and impact
Content Development & Messaging
  • Develop and edit a wide range of communication products, including:
    • Articles, success stories, and opinion pieces
    • Executive briefings, reports, and presentations
    • Talking points, key messages, and FAQs
  • Translate technical and programmatic information into clear, audience-appropriate content
  • Coordinate with SMEs to gather inputs and ensure accuracy
Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination
  • Collaborate with internal teams, client stakeholders, and external partners to align messaging and priorities
  • Support stakeholder identification, engagement planning, and communication touchpoints
  • Participate in and support meetings, workshops, and working groups to gather insights and drive alignment
Program Support & Communications Operations
  • Capture and distribute meeting summaries, action items, and communication updates to maintain alignment
  • Track communications activities, deliverables, and metrics across initiatives
  • Support recurring deliverables such as monthly reports, presentations, and status updates
  • Maintain and organize communication artifacts, content libraries, and knowledge repositories
Research, Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Conduct market and stakeholder research to inform communication strategies and content development
  • Analyze communication effectiveness and recommend improvements or alternative approaches
  • Support feedback mechanisms (e.g., surveys, workshops, stakeholder input sessions) to refine messaging and strategy
Communications Products & Outreach
  • Support development of visually engaging materials such as presentations, infographics, and multimedia content
  • Assist in planning and executing events, workshops, or outreach initiatives to enhance program visibility
  • Ensure communications comply with client, branding, and public affairs requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
  • 3-8+ years of experience in communications, strategic communications, public affairs, or related field
  • Experience supporting multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities
  • Experience supporting DoD, AFRL, or federal contracting environments
  • Experience with content strategy, campaign planning, or communications analytics
  • Experience with tools such as ClickUp, Adobe, or visualization platform
  • Familiarity with research, innovation, or technology-driven programs
  • Meets U.S. citizenship and work eligibility requirements for federal contractors
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DOD) Secret level clearance, if required
