Job description

The Medical Assistant will be based at our Waltham, MA Boston IVF surgical center and will play a key role in supporting patient care throughout the fertility treatment process. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary care team in the operating room setting, the Medical Assistant will assist with surgical workflows, uphold sterile technique, support pre- and post-procedure activities, and provide hands-on patient support. This role contributes to the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality care while fostering a supportive and positive experience for patients undergoing fertility-related procedures and treatments.

Schedule: 40 hours per week (5 days, 8-hour shifts).

  • Shifts are scheduled during regular business hours, with occasional variability depending on operational needs.
  • Team members are scheduled to work one weekend every four weeks on a rotating basis.
  • Participation in the holiday rotation is required, including:
    1. One major summer holiday
    2. One major winter holiday
    3. One minor summer holiday
    4. One minor winter holiday

*Specific holiday assignments may vary based on organizational updates.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities: 

  • Assist Physicians with surgical procedures
  • Follow proper protocols for all procedures
  • Clean exam rooms and equipment per protocol.
  • Set up and stock procedure and OR rooms.
  • Specimen collection, processing for in-house and outside laboratories.
  • Provide patients with information regarding upcoming procedures and reassurance/comfort before, during and after procedures.

Academic Training:

  • Completion of Certified Medical Assistant Program - preferred but not required
    • Studies level: Certification
    • Studies area: Nursing/healthcare assistant

 Position Requirements/Experience: 

  • 12+ months’ experience as a Medical Assistant in a surgical setting
  • Prior experience in women’s healthcare – preferred
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings

 

Technical Skills: 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel – required
  • EMR experience - preferred
