Position Overview

This is a high-impact opportunity for a licensed electrical engineer who wants to lead projects—not just support them. As an Electrical Project Engineer (PE), you will oversee the design, coordination, and execution of electrical systems across a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial developments. From early planning through final construction documentation, you'll take ownership of project delivery while helping guide multidisciplinary coordination and technical quality.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment and enjoys balancing technical design with mentorship and client interaction. You'll work alongside experienced engineering teams across Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Fire Protection, and Structural disciplines while contributing to projects that range from retail and grocery developments to industrial and multifamily environments. The firm provides strong operational support, ongoing professional development, and clear opportunities for long-term growth.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and coordination of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, retail, multifamily, and mixed-use developments
  • Perform engineering calculations, power distribution design, lighting layouts, and system coordination in compliance with NEC, NFPA, IBC, and applicable standards
  • Prepare, review, and oversee construction documents, technical specifications, project schedules, and discipline budgets
  • Independently manage assigned projects while maintaining accountability for quality, scope, and delivery timelines
  • Coordinate closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Fire Protection, Structural, and architectural teams to ensure integrated project execution
  • Conduct final QA/QC reviews of engineering drawings and project deliverables
  • Mentor designers and junior engineers by providing technical guidance, oversight, and professional development support
  • Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and project coordination discussions
  • Estimate discipline man-hours and assist with project planning and resource allocation
  • Support construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, and field coordination as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of electrical engineering and building systems design experience
  • Software: Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical modeling software
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IBC, electrical systems design, and multidisciplinary coordination
  • Leadership: Proven ability to mentor junior staff and lead project teams effectively
  • Communication: Strong client-facing communication and project coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience across grocery, retail, industrial, multifamily, senior living, restaurant, or mixed-use projects
  • Strong background in equipment selection, technical documentation, and report preparation
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Experience supporting construction administration and field coordination efforts
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities

Compensation & Benefits

  • Above-market compensation with sign-on bonus potential
  • Medical, dental, vision, and pet insurance options
  • Generous 401(k) with company match
  • PTO, paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement
  • Professional license renewals, memberships, and continuing education covered
  • Industry conferences, lunch-and-learns, and ongoing technical development opportunities
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates
  • Collaborative, casual culture with team-building events and employee perks
