Job description

Assistant Maintenance Manager - 2nd Shift
Unitex is currently seeking a full time, hands on Assistant Maintenance Manager to oversee a team of industrial mechanics and porters in our industrial laundry plant located in Linden, NJ.
The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $100,000. Actual compensation decisions are based on factors such as experience, seniority, location, and other permissible job-related factors.
This highly visible position requires you to supervise all aspects of the maintenance department, including personnel, machinery repair, preventive maintenance systems, etc. This is not an office job - it is very hands on.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in all phases of industrial plant maintenance in a manufacturing environment and be ready to take full responsibility when the manager is occupied. Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and steam systems a plus. This includes the cleanliness of building maintenance.
Schedule:
Sunday โ€“ Thursday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Off Friday and Saturday
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Oversees mechanics and porters
  • Maintains the preventive maintenance programs
  • Aids the maintenance team in performing diagnostic troubleshooting
  • Monitors quality of repairs
  • Oversees building and physical plant repair issues
  • Maintains porter schedule to maximize cleaning effectiveness of plant and machinery
  • Adheres to safety programs
Required Skills:
  • MUST have experience with 480 volts - high voltage
  • Minimum 5 years' experience repairing industrial processing equipment in an industrial environment or in the military
  • Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment fundamentals including electrical wiring, electrical components, pneumonic systems, steam systems, water systems, hydraulics and building maintenance
  • Ability to use basic hand tools properly and safely
  • Experience responding in a time-sensitive environment with urgency
  • Ability to obtain and maintain proper licensing needed to legally operate specific plant machines (boiler license, etc.)
Position reports to the Maintenance Manager.
