Job description

Harris Group is looking for an Associate Control Systems Engineer to work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers on a variety of industrial applications. This opportunity will be based in Harris Group's Portland office.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and a desire to develop in the Automation and Instrumentation discipline. Bring your curiosity and problem-solving skills to this exciting role!

The Responsibilities
  • Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on varied and diverse projects.
  • Supporting control system testing, equipment commissioning, and field testing.
  • Field information gathering and surveying.
  • PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA system planning, design, programming, and upgrade.
  • Developing drawings and specifications for construction.
  • Equipment selection, cost estimating, and equipment layout.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to an off-site location and/or accept client site assignments when required.

The Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, and 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in PLC programming and HMI or SCADA configuration.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the year required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic, curiosity, and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to use a computer and software programs, such as AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
