The Automation Sales Engineer is responsible for driving sales growth, market development, and strategic business expansion for WEG Automation products and solutions within an assigned geographic region. Reporting to the Automation Sales Manager – USA, this role serves as a key technical and commercial resource responsible for developing customer strategies, supporting complex sales opportunities, and accelerating the adoption of WEG Automation solutions.

The Automation Sales Engineer partners with Territory Sales Managers, distributors, system integrators, OEMs, contractors, and end users to identify strategic opportunities, develop account plans, provide application expertise, and deliver value-added solutions. This position requires a strong understanding of industrial automation applications combined with the ability to influence decision-makers, develop long-term partnerships, and successfully convert targeted growth opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies and business plans to increase WEG Automation sales, market share, and customer penetration.
  • Identify, target, and strategically pursue new accounts and emerging opportunities within the assigned geography.
  • Provide technical pre-sales support by understanding customer applications, recommending solutions, validating product selections, and supporting the development of proposals and quotations.
  • Lead complex sales opportunities by coordinating technical resources, channel partners, and internal WEG teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, understanding customer business drivers, technical requirements, and purchasing processes.
  • Drive pipeline development and opportunity management activities with WEG sales teams, distributors, third-party representatives, OEMs, and system integrators.
  • Partner with channel organizations to strengthen sales capabilities, improve technical knowledge, and develop strategies to grow WEG Automation market presence.
  • Provide product training, application support, and technical presentations to customers, distributors, sales teams, and industry partners.
  • Collaborate with WEG Offer Management and product teams by providing market feedback, application trends, competitive intelligence, and customer requirements.
  • Support strategic account conversion and growth initiatives by providing regular updates on progress, opportunities, and market conditions.
  • Review and validate technical and co mmercial aspects of customer proposals and quotations to ensure successful project execution.
  • Represent WEG Automation at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and channel activities as required.
  • Maintain consistent customer engagement through regular travel throughout the assigned region (approximately 50–70%).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred. Candidates with a combination of technical training, certifications, and relevant engineering, technical, field service, or industry experience may also be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, electrical systems, motion control, drives, or related technologies.
  • Strong application knowledge of industrial automation products, including AC/DC drives, soft starters, PLCs, controls, motor management, and related systems.
  • Demonstrated success supporting technical sales opportunities, developing customer relationships, and growing business within industrial markets.
  • Experience working with distributors, OEMs, system integrators, contractors, and end users preferred.
  • Strong ability to translate customer requirements into effective technical solutions and business value propositions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple strategic opportunities, prioritize effectively, and operate independently across a regional territory.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, business software, and digital communication platforms.
