Control Service Technician
Located in the greater St. Louis area, we provide global processing equipment, automation, and aftermarket solutions for various industries. We specialize in grinding, pelleting, drying, cooling, and extraction machinery, with a focus on improving efficiency and sustainability in manufacturing.
The Control Service Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing control systems and equipment in industrial settings. This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of automated systems, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of control systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with PLCs, HMIs, and other automated control devices.
- Program and configure Allen-Bradley control systems using RSLogix and ControlLogix software.
- Implement and support Inductive Automation Ignition for SCADA systems.
- Work with Siemens and Rockwell equipment to ensure compatibility and integration with existing systems.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on control systems to ensure reliability.
- Document all service operations, maintenance, and repairs performed on site.
Qualifications
- Degree or experience in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, or related
- Experience with control systems (Allen-Bradley / Siemens / Rockwell)
- Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting (RSLogix / Control Logix)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
- Familiarity with Inductive Automation Ignition
- Experience with HMI design and implementation
Essential Functions:
- Work with a wide range of customers to help troubleshoot programming, electrical, and mechanical issues
- Determine when a support request needs to be escalated into the projects department or quoted through sales
- Make minor modifications to ladder logic PLC programming
- Troubleshoot Ethernet network communication issues
- Diagnose HMI communication issues
- Log customer issues and track time spent working with each customer
- Work through various VPN connections the customer sites
- Read and understand electrical drawings
- Recommend improved materials or machinery to customers, documenting how such changes will lower costs or increase production
- Provide technical and non-technical support and services to clients or other staff members regarding the use, operation, and maintenance of equipment
- Work within a team to delegate requests
- Follow up on issues to see them through to their resolution
