Job description

Job Title: Indoor Farm Laborer - Grow Room Assistant I

Reports To: Team Lead and Head Grower

FLSA Status & Rate: Non-Exempt ($18 - $20 per hour)



Summary:

Plants, trims and harvests cannabis plants using industry best indoor growing practices, especially with regard to ensuring compliance and worker safety. This is a highly physical job with duties including planting, transplanting and harvesting cannabis plants and cleaning operating equipment when necessary. Additionally, this position may be required to work with and learn about other farm functional areas to ensure operations run smoothly by performing the following duties.

Duties and responsibilities pertain to Growing Operations:
1. Harvesting growing systems - tasks may include:
a. Pre-harvest setup activities - preparing harvest tables, locating and prepping tools, waste bins, product bins, pre-harvest cleaning activities and documenting activities in accordance with Compliance safety protocols. *
b. Board runner activities - removing grow boards from the system and carry to harvest rack; removing harvested boards from the harvest rack and stacking for transport into the clean room. *
c. Harvest cutter activities - Using a knife, removing product from the grow boards and placing on Quality Control (QC) table for measurement into Metrc. *
d. Harvest Quality Control - inspecting each product for contamination, mold or "A" grade. Ensures constant care in the harvest process to optimize quality, increase efficiencies and yields and reduce loss and waste. *
2. Grow room cleaning - tasks may include:
a. Post-harvest/post-packaging cleaning activities - cleaning harvest and weighing tables, dry racks, tools and area using both manual and automated equipment. Cleaning grow system(s) and getting them ready for transplants. Follows chemical usage protocols and safety including wearing appropriate safety gear. *
3. Transplanting - tasks may include:
a. Transplanting activities - transporting seedlings from nursery and transplanting onto grow boards. Taking fully loaded grow boards and hanging on grow system(s). *


Duties and responsibilities pertain to Washroom Operations:
1. Washroom - tasks may include:
a. Pressure washer operation - running a gas-powered pressure washer on all other materials to clean and prep for reuse. Follows chemical usage protocols and safety including wearing appropriate safety gear. *
b. Hand washing - using the 4 step cleaning process to clean/sanitize equipment (such as flats) that cannot be done using the pressure washer. *Duties and responsibilities pertain to Proc Room

Operations:
1. Processing room - tasks may include:
a. Pre-processing activities - erecting boxes, labeling boxes, prepping area prior to joint machine run.
b. Final product inspection, boxing and labeling activities - inspect each finished bagged product to ensure specifications are met prior to placing in case. *
c. Line feeding activities - grinding the product, bucking the product, feeding a predetermined amount of product on conveyor to start the processing line*
d. Cooler preparation activities - bringing finished cases into cooler and assisting cooler lead with organizing pallets for shipping to customers. *
e. Post-production organizing and cleaning activities - organizing the boxing and bagging area postproduction to ensure area is ready to clean down; perform general cleaning activities in boxing, bagging and processing room to prep for cleaning team to wash down each area. *

Other duties and responsibilities include:
1. Depending on skills, experience and level of comfort, may be asked to assist with light assembly or construction work as need arises. Can involve the use of hand and/or power tools, climbing ladders and working 4 to 10 feet in the air.
2. Recommends changes to improve Compliance safety and employee safety. *
3. Contributes to team as well as company efforts by accomplishing results in a cooperative and supportive manner. *

Education/Experience:

The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
