Job description

A rapidly growing aerospace manufacturer is seeking a Senior Buyer to support procurement activities for advanced propulsion systems used in defense and aerospace applications. This role is responsible for direct and indirect material procurement to ensure the timely delivery of components required for manufacturing and assembly operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in aerospace, turbine, engine, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments and possess strong supplier management, planning, and procurement expertise.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage direct material procurement activities, including planning, purchase order placement, tracking, and expediting.

  • Maintain accurate delivery schedules and purchase order records.

  • Process indirect purchasing requirements

  • Coordinate material schedules to support production and inventory requirements.

  • Manage long-lead-time material procurement and mitigate supply risks.

  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams to resolve procurement and supply chain issues.

  • Maintain procurement documentation and ensure compliance with internal processes.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

  • 5+ years of procurement experience within aerospace, turbine, engine manufacturing, or another complex manufacturing environment.

  • Experience managing direct and indirect purchasing activities.

  • Strong understanding of sourcing, supplier management, and purchase order processes.

  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.

  • Experience purchasing components with long lead times.
