Job Description

The Global Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing end-to-end global sourcing strategies for steel, fabricated components, cladding materials, indirect spend categories, and critical commodities that support our design, fabrication, and project delivery operations.

This role owns assigned global categories and supplier portfolios, drives measurable cost, quality, lead-time, and risk outcomes, and serves as a strategic partner to Engineering, Operations, Project Management, Quality, Finance, and senior leadership. The position requires a high degree of commercial judgment, market insight, cross-functional influence, and the ability to build and manage a resilient international supply base aligned with our project pipeline and manufacturing footprint.

We invest in their continuous development and recognize their contribution to our success. Great work starts with collaborating with a team dedicated to creating value worldwide. The Allied Team is highly resourceful, innovative, and competent with extensive experience. Our culture is flexible, offering work-life balance, empowered because everyoneโ€™s voice matters, unified by promoting โ€œweโ€ over โ€œmeโ€ and creative thinking outside the box, itโ€™s the Allied way.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine global category strategies for structural steel (plate, sheet, tube, structural sections), fabricated components, cladding systems, coatings, fasteners, capital equipment, MRO, logistics, and other key direct and indirect categories.
  • Lead complex global RFQ/RFP processes, including bid strategy, supplier evaluation, total cost of ownership (TCO) and should-cost modeling, award recommendations, and contract negotiation/finalization.
  • Identify, qualify, audit, and onboard strategic suppliers worldwide, with emphasis on regions that support our USA and Spain manufacturing operations and international project requirements.
  • Negotiate and manage long-term agreements covering price, capacity commitments, lead times, payment terms, quality, risk allocation, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor and interpret global steel and commodity market dynamics, capacity constraints, tariff/trade developments, logistics trends, and geopolitical risks; translate insights into proactive sourcing actions and contingency plans.
  • Own strategic supplier relationship management, including performance scorecards, business reviews, continuous improvement programs, dual-sourcing strategies, and corrective action processes.
  • Partner closely with Design and Engineering early in the project lifecycle to align sourcing strategies with technical requirements, value engineering opportunities, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Planning, and Project teams to ensure supply continuity, capacity assurance, and alignment with production schedules and project milestones.
  • Drive year-over-year cost savings, working capital optimization, and risk mitigation while maintaining quality and delivery performance.
  • Track, analyze, and report sourcing KPIs (cost savings, on-time delivery, quality, contract compliance, supplier risk) to senior leadership.
  • Support or lead cross-functional initiatives related to sustainability, supplier diversity, process standardization, and ERP/sourcing system optimization.
  • Mentor and develop junior sourcing/procurement team members as needed. Travel internationally and domestically (approximately 20โ€“30%) for supplier assessments, negotiations, and site visits as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and progressive work experience.
  • Masterโ€™s degree or MBA preferred.
  • 8โ€“12+ years of progressive strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years focused on global sourcing.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing steel products, fabricated structural components, or related metal building/construction materials.
  • Proven track record managing global supplier bases across multiple regions (North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, or similar).
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills and experience developing and administering complex supply agreements.
  • Solid understanding of steel markets, fabrication processes, manufacturing supply chains, and total cost of ownership principles.
  • Experience partnering with engineering and operations on technical and project-driven requirements.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite) and advanced Excel/data analytics tools; experience with e-sourcing platforms preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CIPS, or equivalent strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market and business insights into executable sourcing plans.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills in a matrixed, fast-paced manufacturing organization.

  • Results-oriented, with a bias for action and continuous improvement.
  • Clear, professional communication skills (written and verbal) suitable for internal leadership and external supplier interactions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under project-driven timelines.
