Key Qualifications

  • HP Certification Level I or Level II highly preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical and mechanical experience in digital printing press operations preferred (HP Indigo experience strongly desired).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and troubleshooting skills.

Job Summary

The Digital Press Operator is responsible for setting up, running, and maintaining high-speed digital printing equipment to produce premium-quality labels. You will ensure smooth run-time, perform routine press maintenance, inspect printed materials for color accuracy, and maintain an organized, safe workspace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Press Setup & Calibration: Collect and verify job specifications, job jackets, and materials before production. Adjust press settings via control software for optimal speed and output.
  • Production & Quality Control: Perform continuous quality checks, verifying color continuity, ink coverage, repeat lengths, and alignment. Replace ink cans, charge rollers, and wiper blades as needed.
  • Material Handling: Mount rolls properly onto the unwind shaft to prevent web defects, wrinkles, and machine downtime.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability. Identify and resolve operational issues promptly.
  • Communication & Safety: relay critical quality and operational details to incoming shift operators. Maintain a clean, safe work environment following all OSHA and safety standards.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; frequently lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 lbs. (bending, reaching, stooping, twisting).
  • Dexterity & Vision: Excellent fine-motor skills to handle small machine components; strong visual acuity to distinguish fine color variations, depth perception, and focus adjustments.
  • Environment: Manufacturing plant setting with medium-to-loud noise levels. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required (hearing, eye, and foot protection).
  • Schedule: Must be able to work flexible schedules, 2nd or 3rd shift hours, and overtime as mandated by customer deadlines.
