Job description

Our busy and growing dental practice is in need of an additional front line Receptionist! We seek a courteous, friendly, and engaging professional who loves welcoming people with joy - this critical position supports busy dental clinic operations by actively creating a warm environment, greeting patients with a smile, and ensuring important patient information is obtained, verified, communicated, and updated as necessary.
This is a part-time position (M, W, and TH), approximately 24 hours per week, but offers an opportunity for additional hours. Position offers a generous amount of paid time off (vacation and sick time), in addition to several paid holidays including the week between Christmas and New Years.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Warmly welcoming all patients and visitors
  • Answering phones, checking voicemails, and returning patient phone calls
  • Scheduling and confirming patient appointments
  • Referring patients to other clinics if they have insurance
  • Updating and uploading patient information using Dentrix system
  • Filling openings and cancelled appointments quickly
  • Printing daily routing slips
  • Printing copies of daily schedules
  • Noting no-call/no-shows and cancellations using Dentrix
  • Maintaining patient waitlist
  • Training and supervising front desk volunteers
  • Maintain neat and clean reception/patient waiting area
  • Assisting in special projects as assigned by the clinic manager/dentist

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Specialized coursework and/or proven work history and experience in general office practices such as typing, filing, data entry, and general administrative support - medical or dental office experience preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • MUST have a friendly and welcoming demeanor - this is priority
  • Flexibility to respond professionally to occasional changes to daily patient schedule
  • Current CPR certification
  • Familiarity with dental terminology
  • Familiarity with Dentrix software highly preferred, willing to train the right person
  • High proficiency with computer software and data entry a huge plus

The ideal candidate will possess a calm demeanor and the ability to sensitively and respectfully interact with a diverse patient population. Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility required to manage busy front desk and ensure smooth clinic operations.
