Job description

Overview
The Senior Graphic Designer (Publications Lead) is responsible for executing the layout, composition, and formatting of TAS's high-profile federal publications. Primary Duties
  • Lead the layout and design production of multi-hundred-page reports using Adobe InDesign.
  • Develop tables, charts, and formatted figures from Word and Excel data inputs.
  • Prepare interactive PDFs with hyperlinks, bookmarks, and page numbering accuracy.
  • Deliver print-ready and web-ready files per TAS and GPO technical specifications.
  • Coordinate proof cycles (two rounds minimum) with TAS CSO, incorporating feedback within 24-48 hours.
  • Oversee document structure, master pages, typography, kerning, and leading consistency.
  • Ensure all design outputs comply with TAS's Style Guide, IRM 1.17.7, and Section 508 standards.
  • Support production of advance copies (up to 30 printed, spiral-bound sets) for Congressional and stakeholder distribution.
  • Maintain and archive source files, fonts, and linked items for government ownership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in publication design for federal or large-scale public sector clients.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
  • Strong knowledge of CMYK color management, typography, and long-document production.
  • Familiarity with FedRAMP-compliant file transfers and data security protocols.
  • Ability to manage intense publication cycles with evening/weekend availability during December and June deadlines.
