Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and rigorous V&V (Verification & Validation) engineer to join our humanoid robotics team. In this role, you will play a key role in our efforts to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of our humanoid robots. You will be responsible for the end-to-end verification and validation of the entire system, from individual components to the fully integrated robot operating in complex, real-world scenarios. This position is critical for ensuring our robots are not only functional but also safe and robust enough for human interaction, demanding a comprehensive understanding of complex electro-mechanical systems, software, and safety-critical V&V methodologies.
Robotics Verification & Validation Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Own and execute the verification and validation lifecycle for the humanoid robot platform, ensuring comprehensive test coverage from early concept through to deployment and post-launch updates
  • Develop and document comprehensive V&V plans, including test strategies, test cases, and test procedures for the entire robotic system, including hardware, software, firmware, and AI
  • Design, build, and maintain sophisticated test environments, including full system integration testbeds and fully automated test cells
  • Establish and maintain clear traceability between system requirements, safety requirements, and V&V test cases using requirements management tools (e.g., Jama, Polarion, DOORS)
  • Lead root cause analysis of failures and anomalies found during testing, and work with the engineering teams to develop and verify corrective actions. Clearly document and report all findings
  • Develop, execute, and document the verification and validation testing required to demonstrate compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13482, ISO 10218)
  • Work in close collaboration with the functional safety, design, software, and systems integration teams to ensure that V&V activities are aligned with design and safety goals

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in a verification and validation role for complex, safety-critical systems (e.g., in robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or medical devices)
  • Proven experience in developing sophisticated test environments, including full system integration testbeds and fully automated test cells
  • Proven experience in developing and executing V&V plans for systems with integrated hardware and software
  • Working knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849 or ISO 26262)
  • Working knowledge of robotics-specific or autonomy standards such as ISO 13482, UL 3300, ISO 10218, UL4600 or ISO 21448

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Successfully certified a robotic system to Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3) or an autonomous vehicle (AV) to Automotive Safety Integrity Level D (ASIL-D)
  • Experience with C++ in a testing or development capacity
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience in validating systems that incorporate AI/ML, particularly in perception and decision-making
  • Experience with Python for test automation and data analysis
