Independent Contractor Weekends information

What are independent contractor weekends?

Independent Contractor Weekends refer to work arrangements where individuals are hired as independent contractors, rather than employees, to provide services during weekends. These contractors typically have the flexibility to choose their assignments, set their own schedules, and are responsible for their own taxes and business expenses. This type of work is common in industries like delivery, rideshare, event staffing, and freelance gigs. It offers greater independence but does not include traditional employee benefits such as health insurance or paid time off. Independent contractors must also handle their own invoicing and often sign contracts outlining the scope and duration of their weekend work.

What are some common challenges independent contractors face when working weekends, and how can they be managed?

Independent contractors who work weekends often encounter challenges such as balancing personal commitments, managing inconsistent workloads, and maintaining effective communication with clients who may operate on traditional weekday schedules. To address these issues, it's helpful to establish clear boundaries with clients regarding availability, use project management tools to track tasks and deadlines, and schedule regular check-ins to ensure alignment on expectations. Additionally, setting aside dedicated time for rest and personal activities can help maintain a healthy work-life balance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an independent contractor on weekends, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Independent Contractor on weekends, you generally need time management, self-motivation, and relevant industry expertise, often supported by appropriate licensing or qualifications depending on your field. Familiarity with project management tools, invoicing software, and digital communication platforms is typically necessary. Strong communication, reliability, and adaptability are standout soft skills for building client trust and managing unpredictable schedules. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering consistent results, maintaining client relationships, and successfully managing an independent workload outside standard business hours.

Freelance Photographers focus specifically on photography projects, often working weekends for clients. Both roles involve self-employment and flexible schedules, but their work environments and skill requirements differ based on the industry.

Job description

EverBloom Holistic Nursing is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and independently licensed LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW to join our growing outpatient mental health practice as a part-time 1099 independent contractor.

We provide psychiatric and behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults, with a strong focus on individualized, culturally responsive, and neurodiversity-affirming care.

We are looking for a therapist who enjoys working collaboratively, values quality patient care, and is comfortable supporting clients with a variety of mental health needs.

This is a hybrid position for a therapist who wants the flexibility of independent contractor work while having the support of an established outpatient practice. EverBloom provides furnished office space, administrative support, patient scheduling, billing support, EHR access, and referral coordination, allowing you to focus primarily on providing patient care.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and/or adults based on clinical experience and interests
  • Complete clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide evidence-based and supportive psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, ADHD, emotional regulation, life transitions, family stress, behavioral concerns, and other mental health needs
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
  • Monitor patient progress, safety, and treatment goals
  • Coordinate care with psychiatric providers and other members of the treatment team when clinically appropriate
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and other members of the treatment team
  • Participate in collaborative care and referrals as appropriate
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and follow all applicable ethical, legal, privacy, and confidentiality requirements

Qualifications

  • Current and unrestricted California LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW license
  • Must be independently licensed; this position is not open to associates
  • Experience providing outpatient psychotherapy preferred
  • Experience working with children and adolescents is strongly preferred, although therapists who primarily work with adults are also encouraged to apply
  • Experience working with ADHD, autism/neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, or behavioral concerns is a plus
  • Comfortable working independently as a 1099 contractor
  • Reliable, professional, and able to complete documentation in a timely manner
  • Comfortable collaborating with psychiatric providers when patients receive both therapy and medication management
  • Must maintain professional liability insurance and all credentials required for independent practice

What EverBloom Provides

EverBloom provides support with many of the administrative responsibilities involved in outpatient practice, including:

  • Furnished office space for in-person appointments
  • Administrative support
  • Patient scheduling and appointment coordination
  • Billing and insurance claim support
  • Patient intake and referral coordination
  • EHR access for documentation and patient management
  • Opportunities for internal referrals and caseload growth
  • Collaboration with psychiatric providers for shared patients when clinically appropriate
  • Support with general practice operations and patient communication
  • Ability to provide both in-person and telehealth services
  • Flexible scheduling based on provider availability and practice needs

Our goal is to take care of much of the administrative side of the practice so our clinicians can focus on providing quality patient care.

Schedule & Work Arrangement

This is a part-time, hybrid 1099 independent contractor position.

The therapist must be available to work in person at our Sacramento office at least 1–2 days per week. Other scheduled days may be worked remotely from home via telehealth.

We are especially interested in providers who can offer some after-school, evening, and/or weekend availability, as these appointment times are frequently requested by children, adolescents, working adults, and families.

There is flexibility in developing your schedule while maintaining a consistent in-person presence at the practice.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, reliable, clinically independent, and comfortable working collaboratively within an outpatient psychiatric practice.

The ideal candidate communicates well, values patient-centered care, completes documentation on time, and is interested in developing a consistent caseload over time.
