Reports To: District Manager
Schedule: Sundays, 4pm-11pm, with flexibility required as schedules may vary based on league operations
COMPANY OVERVIEW
50,000 athletes. 20 locations. Millions of views.
Brodie League is more than a basketball league, it's a community. As one of North America's fastest-growing sports brands, Brodie League is redefining adult recreational basketball by delivering an elevated, professional-quality experience rooted in culture, competition, and community. Our mission is to make every league night the best night of the week for our athletes.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The League Manager is the face of Brodie on game night. This role owns the on-site execution and athlete experience at their assigned Brodie League location(s). The League Manager is accountable for ensuring game nights run smoothly, professionally, and to the Brodie Standard -- from staff readiness and game flow to player experience and issue resolution.
Every player who laces up is choosing Brodie over everything else they could be doing. The League Manager is responsible for making sure that choice feels worth it -- every single week. You anticipate problems before they surface, hold every game night to a premium standard, and treat every gym like it's a Brodie venue - because it is.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Season Operations
  • Build and manage an airtight season schedule across all divisions, gyms, and time slots
  • Own team placement, division balancing, and captain onboarding from day one
  • Run game nights at a premium standard: the right refs, the right setup, zero chaos
  • Manage standings, stats, and weekly results with accuracy and speed
  • Execute playoffs and championship events that players talk about for years
  • Review and approve payroll for all game-night staff each week, ensuring accuracy before submission

Captain & Team Experience
  • Be the highest-quality point of contact captains have ever had in a rec league
  • Respond fast, follow through every time, and make captains feel like they matter
  • Anticipate problems before captains even notice them
  • Own the retention playbook: the experience should be so good, re-signing is a no-brainer

Facilities & Logistics
  • Hold gym partners to the same standard we hold ourselves
  • Book and manage court time so nothing is ever scrambled or last-minute
  • Show up to every game night like the venue is a reflection of the brand - because it is
  • Must have reliable access to transportation sufficient to transport brand fixtures and equipment to the league venue

Data & Reporting
  • Track registrations, capacity, and team health weekly
  • Spot issues early and act on them before they become problems
  • Keep leadership informed with clear, accurate updates

REQUIREMENTS
Must Have
  • Strong leader with the presence and confidence to command a gym on a busy game night
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; nothing falls through the cracks on your watch
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to resolve conflict and make decisions on the fly
  • Reliable and accountable - your team and your District Manager can count on you every week
  • Comfortable working with digital tools, scorekeeping systems, and operational checklists
  • Availability for evenings and weekends - game nights are non-negotiable
  • Communication that is fast, clear, and professional every time
  • Reliable access to transportation sufficient to transport brand fixtures and equipment to the league venue
  • Must operate as a self-employed individual and be responsible for own tax remittances and HST obligations

Nice to Have
  • Background in premium sports, hospitality, or client-driven service environments
  • Network in Edmonton's basketball or rec sports community
  • Experience playing in or captaining a competitive rec league
  • Experience managing vendors, facilities, or partner relationships
  • Previous experience in sports operations, event management, or a leadership role
