Job description

Job Title: ย Manufacturing Technician, Product Test

Job Description:ย 

This person will contribute to the company's success by performing test and debug operations on a variety of LRU (Line Replaceable Units), circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and components. This role will report directly to the Product Test Supervisor and is responsible for successfully testing and debugging products for delivery or repair. Performs electronic testing and diagnosis of malfunctions on sonar transducers and hydrophones, circuit boards, major systems, sub-systems and control boxes. Application of advanced electronic theory and use of schematics, detailed specifications and complex test procedures, with appropriate test equipment. Performs final test and/or diagnosis of malfunction of any electronic system. Highly developed support individual contributor. Works autonomously. Makes recommendations for solutions. Works on assignments requiring judgment and initiative.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform electronic testing, both manual and automated, in a production environment
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and fault isolation in a production environment
  • Assist Test Engineering on trends, root causes and corrective actions.
  • Set up tests, calibrate, align units under test and troubleshoot test systems.
  • Interpret and analyze blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, sketches, drawings, and specifications with precision.
  • Utilize complex test procedures, schematics, detailed specifications, drawings, and test equipment to isolate and document test faults accurately.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accompanying hardware under test, including travelers, material repair authorizations, factory acceptance test reports, material rejection reports, security marking, security audit trails and test logs.
  • Diagnose and resolve test problems, ensuring the provision of accurate and repeatable data.
  • Operate thermal chamber systems, pressure vessels, and shake consoles in conjunction with large shake tables.
  • Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including collaborating with engineers on set-up and calibration tasks, as well as conducting rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Utilize complex software programs to collect and evaluate operating data, conducting live adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment as necessary.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process, working closely with engineers to conduct experiments.
  • Collaborate with Management (Engineering and Operations), Engineers (Mfg, Quality, Test, and Design), and Senior Test Technicians to resolve problems and suggest improvements with materials, process and/or documentation. Adhere to security standards set forth by the facility security officer.
  • Utilize company-supplied safety equipment and PPE as necessary.
  • Work in close quarters suspended over a large acoustic test pond.
  • Communicates between Operations and Engineering to share lessons learned with a focus on raising awareness within both parts of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Prior experience with test equipment and science instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, DMM, Hi-pots, and impedance analyzers
  • Prior Acoustic test or Navy Sonar testing are major benefits.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel.
  • Valid state driver's license. DOT License is a plus.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Broad knowledge of electronics, test equipment, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Perform electronic testing, both manual and automated, in a production environment

  • Assist Test Engineering on trends, root causes and corrective actions
  • 2 years post-Secondary/Associates degree in Electronics Technology or related field
  • Working knowledge of in-water acoustic test processes, systems and PWB testing and troubleshooting.
  • Flexibility to work variable schedules and additional hours as needed.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work and communicate effectively within a development group.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW and Python
  • Ability to speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Works in a typical office environment with exposure to light manufacturing environment and outside weather elements.
  • Good manual dexterity and balance to work in close quarters suspended over a large pond filled with water
