What is an independent contractor Databricks?

They are typically hired by organizations to help with data engineering, machine learning, and big data analytics projects, leveraging Databricks' capabilities on Apache Spark. These contractors often bring specialized knowledge in cloud platforms, data pipelines, and advanced analytics, working independently or as part of project teams. Their flexible engagement allows companies to scale their data initiatives without committing to permanent hires.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an independent contractor Databricks?

Strong problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills help you deliver solutions independently and collaborate effectively with clients. These skills are essential for delivering robust data solutions, meeting client expectations, and staying competitive in a rapidly evolving data landscape.

Project Manager II - Growth Packaging Strategy

Location: Remote (U.S.)

This is a full-time contract opportunity.

About the Role:

We are seeking a strategic, analytical Project Manager to support Growth Packaging Strategy for a leading consumer video and streaming platform. This role is ideal for someone with experience in the pay TV, streaming, telecommunications, or media industry who enjoys solving complex business problems using data, market insights, and strategic thinking.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate packaging strategies, pricing, content offerings, and subscriber growth initiatives. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building business cases, challenging assumptions, interpreting data, and presenting executive-level recommendations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support end-to-end business cases for consumer packaging and pricing initiatives for a streaming video platform.
  • Evaluate packaging strategies by framing hypotheses, sizing market opportunities, assessing cannibalization risk, and recommending low-investment pilot programs before full implementation.
  • Own recurring Add/Drop content decisions by analyzing network and programming performance, subscriber engagement, content costs, churn risk, and competitive positioning.
  • Translate programming and carriage economics into clear consumer packaging recommendations.
  • Analyze and interpret quantitative research, including:
  • Market sizing
  • Competitive pricing analysis
  • Customer surveys
  • User experience insights
  • Call center feedback
  • Churn and subscriber analytics
  • Transform complex analytical findings into executive-ready recommendations and compelling presentations.
  • Challenge business assumptions and evaluate alternative perspectives to strengthen strategic recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Product, Finance, Programming, Marketing, Analytics, and Leadership teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience within the pay TV, streaming, telecommunications, or media industry.
  • Strong understanding of consumer packaging, subscription pricing, and content strategy.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
  • Financial modeling
  • Market sizing
  • Pricing scenarios
  • Sensitivity analysis
  • SQL proficiency with the ability to independently query, validate, and analyze data.
  • Experience using Tableau, Power BI, or similar visualization platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting survey data, customer insights, segmentation, and operational metrics.
  • Excellent PowerPoint presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex analyses to executive audiences.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with proven storytelling abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Databricks or lakehouse environments.
  • Exposure to AI tools, LLMs, or workflow automation for competitive intelligence or market monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of Python or R for data analysis.
  • Experience with subscriber analytics, churn modeling, or media measurement platforms such as Nielsen or Comscore.
  • Understanding of A/B testing, experimentation, and in-market test design.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate is naturally curious, highly analytical, and comfortable balancing quantitative analysis with strategic business judgment. They understand how streaming businesses grow subscribers, optimize packaging, and make content investment decisions. They can confidently challenge assumptions, defend recommendations with data, and communicate complex concepts to executive stakeholders.

If you're passionate about shaping the future of consumer streaming experiences through data-driven strategy, we'd love to hear from you.
