Job description

Position Summary:
The Data Entry and Cycle Counter is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of production and inventory data by processing manufacturing jobs within the ERP system and performing inventory cycle counts using the company's paperless inventory management software. This position ensures production jobs are accurately entered, released to the manufacturing floor with complete documentation, inventory records remain accurate, and production documents are properly archived. This role works closely with Production Planning, Purchasing, Warehouse, Shipping, and Manufacturing to support efficient operations and accurate inventory management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
ERP Data Entry & Production Support:
  • Enter production jobs into the ERP system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Print production jobs and prepare complete job packets (routers) for release to the manufacturing floor.
  • Verify all required documentation is included before releasing each job packet.
  • Coordinate with Production Planning to ensure jobs are released according to schedule.
  • Maintain accurate production records within the ERP system.
  • Scan completed job documentation and electronically archive files in designated network locations.
  • Ensure production documents are filed accurately and are easily retrievable.
  • Dispose of obsolete production paperwork in accordance with company document retention procedures.
Inventory Cycle Counting:
  • Perform scheduled cycle counts of hardware inventory using the company's paperless inventory management software integrated with the ERP system.
  • Perform cycle counts of raw material inventory, including sheet stock and other production materials.
  • Perform cycle counts of finished goods inventory.
  • Utilize barcode scanners, handheld devices, or other electronic tools to record inventory counts and update transactions within the ERP system.
  • Research and investigate inventory discrepancies to determine root causes.
  • Process inventory adjustments in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support overall ERP data integrity.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Production, Shipping, and Warehouse personnel to resolve inventory variances.
  • Assist with periodic physical inventories as required.
General Responsibilities:
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information and inventory records.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ERP data accuracy and inventory control processes.
  • Assist with other administrative, inventory, and production support duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in data entry, inventory control, warehouse operations, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP software preferred.
  • Experience using paperless inventory management systems, barcode scanners, or mobile inventory applications integrated with ERP systems is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb short ladders as necessary for inventory verification.
  • Frequent use of computers, barcode scanners, printers, and other office equipment.
