To thrive as an Independent Contractor Auto Mechanic, you need strong automotive diagnostic, repair, and maintenance skills, often backed by formal training or certifications such as ASE. Familiarity with diagnostic tools (OBD-II scanners), service manuals, and scheduling or invoicing software is important for managing both repair work and business operations.
