Diesel Mechanic
USA Waste and Recycling
Position Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining equipment at transfer stations and material-recovery facilities safely and professionally. This position is a 3rd shift with the hours of 6:00 pm-4:30 am and requires a valid driver's license.
Your Role:
  • Troubleshooting heavy equipment.
  • Welding
  • Maintain and repair various types of heavy equipment, diesel motors, and hydraulic systems.
  • Work all assigned shifts from the scheduled start time to the scheduled end time.
  • Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace.
  • Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
  • Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.

Your Skills:
  • Ability to use a variety of vehicle maintenance tools such as hand tools, electric tools, pneumatic tools, jacking equipment, safety stands, and electronic testing equipment.
  • Ability to receive, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand parts of service manuals.
  • Ability to prepare legible and understandable work orders and schedule completion sheets.
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Driver's License/CDL B is a plus.
  • ASE Certification
  • Tow Motor Certification
  • Air Brakes Certification
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills.
  • Must supply own tools.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a transport environment
  • Gritty, outgoing, and eager to learn.
