About SME Careers

As AI systems become more sophisticated, they rely on human knowledge to better understand context and the world. At SME Careers, we partner with leading AI labs to improve how the next generation of intelligent systems learn, reason, and communicate. SME Careers is a fast-growing AI data services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate that provides AI training data to many of the world's top AI companies and foundation model labs. Your expertise in Catalan will directly help improve the world's premier AI models.

About the Role

In this hourly, remote contract role with flexible scheduling, you will perform linguistic quality assurance and fact-checking on Catalan content, applying rubrics and a structured error taxonomy so that language quality is judged consistently and reproducibly.

You will review AI-generated responses in Catalan and English, evaluate reasoning quality and step-by-step problem-solving, and provide expert feedback that helps models produce accurate, logical, and clearly explained answers. You will assess solutions for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to the prompt; identify errors in methodology or conceptual understanding; fact-check information; write high-quality explanations and model solutions; and rate and compare multiple AI responses.

What You'll Do

  • Perform Linguistic Quality Assurance: Review Catalan text for grammar, orthography, punctuation, and register using a consistent error taxonomy and rubric-based scoring.
  • Fact-Check Content: Verify Catalan-language responses against reliable references and flag unverifiable, misleading, or internally inconsistent claims.
  • Enforce Locale and Style Consistency: Apply Catalan locale, register, and style-guide rules (for example Central vs Valencian conventions, formal vs informal address) within each task or project guideline.
  • Document Your Judgments: Record review decisions and escalation notes in clear, professional English (C1+) so others can reproduce your reasoning.
  • Optimize AI Performance: Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve the model's accuracy, fluency, and contextual relevance.
  • Ensure Model Integrity: Test AI outputs for potential inaccuracies or biases, validating their reliability across use cases.

What You Bring

  • At least 1 year of relevant professional experience in Catalan language work: editing, translation, localization, linguistic QA, content review, or similar.
  • Native or near-native written Catalan (C2) with strong command of normative grammar, orthography, punctuation, and register.
  • Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation and Interpreting, Catalan Philology, Journalism, or equivalent practical experience.
  • English proficiency: minimum C1 level.
  • Fact-checking capability: able to verify claims using reputable sources, resolve ambiguities, and document evidence succinctly.
  • Linguistic quality assurance experience: applying rubrics and rating scales, consistency checks, and structured error categorization for language quality.
  • Previous experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluating AI-generated content is strongly preferred.
  • Able to work independently as a remote contractor: detail-oriented, self-directed, dependable turnaround, and careful handling of confidential project content.

Application & Onboarding Process

  1. Apply with your resume/CV highlighting Catalan language work (editing, translation, QA, localization, or content review).
  2. Complete a Catalan language screening focused on grammar, usage, and quality judgment.
  3. Complete a short fact-checking and linguistic QA exercise to calibrate how you apply guidelines.
  4. Sign a contractor agreement and complete identity and payment setup.
  5. Attend paid onboarding for project-specific rubrics and begin hourly tasks based on availability.

Why Join Us

  • Flexible, remote contract work that fits around other commitments.
  • Work focused on Catalan language accuracy, clarity, and factual reliability.
  • Clear rubrics and structured feedback that make quality expectations explicit.
  • Exposure to a steady stream of real-world Catalan language edge cases: terminology, register, dialect choices, and fact-checking.
  • Weekly Pay: Receive fast, reliable weekly payments once your work is approved.
