Job description

Are you safety and service-oriented?  Do you possess the attention to detail necessary to ensure the accurate fulfillment of customer orders?  If so, we’d like you to join our Warehouse team as a Warehouse Associate – Shipping & Receiving.  

About the Role: 

    You will: 

  • Be responsible for counting, verifying, and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material. 

  • Stock and maintain the warehouse; and pick, document, and pack customer orders in accordance with Company policy and procedure.  

  • Act with a high attention to detail to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction. 

  • Handle all shipping discrepancies per procedures or forward appropriate paperwork to designated employee to handle. 

  • Identify nonstock, special-order material, and damaged material and store in proper warehouse locations. 

  • Complete necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier. 

  • Load and unload trucks, operate warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely. 

  • Inform immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise that could impact customer service levels. 

  • Ensure security and controls are in place and upheld to protect Profit Center assets. 

  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety. Remove empty cartons, metal bands, pallets, and other debris. Inform immediate supervisor of safety issues. 

  • Assist co-workers in servicing customers. 

  • Perform all job functions in accordance with the company’s Safety Standards.

  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.

  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

  • Shipping and receiving duties are a primary function of this position, and the selected candidate must be willing to assist with all warehouse operations as needed

About You: 

  • 1 year warehouse receiving and material handling experience 

  • Knowledge of products sold at the Profit Center preferred 

Additional Details:

• Training will be conducted in Alexandria, Virginia

• Work location: Lorton, Virginia

• Schedule: Monday through Friday

• Work hours may vary based on business needs

• Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, order picking, and material handling

• Shipping and receiving duties are a primary function of this position, and the selected candidate must be willing to assist with all warehouse operations as needed

• Must be experienced in receiving inbound shipments, verifying quantities, inspecting materials for damage, and accurately documenting receipts

• Experience in a wholesale distribution, plumbing, HVAC, or industrial warehouse environment is preferred

  • Be able to learn and operate the computer-related systems used for warehouse operations. 

  • Read, write, speak, and understand English. 

  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
