Job description

Overview

The Inbound Manager is responsible for leading all inbound operations within Cavender’s Wilmer cross-dock distribution facility, ensuring efficient, accurate, and timely processing of merchandise. This role oversees inbound flow, including unloading, receiving, unloading, inspection, value added services and put away processes while maintaining strong inventory accuracy and operational flow. The Inbound Manager plays a key role in establishing and maintaining inbound standards, training teams, and ensuring alignment with merchandising, store and distribution priorities. This position partners cross-functionally to ensure product is made available for fulfillment in a timely and accurate manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Embody the Cavender's Culture. Champion the Mission, Vision, Values, and Brand in every decision and interaction.

· Lead inbound operations end-to-end. Set the pace, uphold the standard, and drive the results.

· Build the operational playbook. Develop, refine, and champion the SOPs and workflows that keep this facility running with precision and consistency.

· Invest in your people. Coach, challenge, and develop supervisors and associates into high-performing contributors who raise the standard around them.

· Drive dock with discipline. Coordinate inbound shipments so every load lands on time and on plan.

· Protect data integrity. Ensure PO accuracy, routing compliance, and receiving processes are executed with rigor.

· Move product effectively and efficiently. Drive timely inbound processing so stores and fulfillment centers receive what they need when they need it.

· Set the performance standard. Establish aggressive targets for dock-to-door cycle time, sort accuracy, and throughput and hold the team accountable to them.

· Bridge teams and develop partners. Build strong partnerships with Transportation, Carrier Relations, and Distribution to resolve disruptions and keep freight flowing.

· Lead a culture of safety. Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures is treated as a point of pride by you and by everyone on your team.

· Run an efficient, disciplined dock. Oversee equipment usage and dock operations with an operator's precision and a leader's accountability.

· Drive continuous improvement. Identify and implement opportunities that make the operation faster, more accurate, and more cost-effective, leading the team in the process.

· Align the operation through communication. Keep outbound, merchants, vendors and operations teams connected and informed so product flows without friction or delay.

· Report with insight, lead with improvements. Deliver leadership reporting that goes beyond status updates, bringing context, analysis, and a clear point of view on what's next.

Qualifications and Requirements

· 5+ years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or fulfillment operations, with a focus on inbound or receiving functions.

· 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.

· Strong knowledge of receiving processes, inventory control, and warehouse management systems (WMS/OMS).

· Experience working with purchase orders, vendor shipments, and inbound logistics.

· Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive operational results.

· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills

· Experience in retail or e-commerce distribution environments.

· Familiarity with high-volume distribution centers or centralized warehouse operations.

· Experience developing SOPs and training operational teams. (kept but framed as ongoing responsibility, not project)

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to track and improve operational KPIs.

· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
