'In Spain' jobs refer to employment opportunities that are based within Spain, across various industries such as tourism, education, technology, healthcare, and more. These jobs could be available to both Spanish citizens and international workers, depending on visa and work permit requirements. Typical roles range from teaching English and hospitality work to positions in multinational companies. The job market in Spain can vary by region, with larger cities like Madrid and Barcelona offering more diverse opportunities. Understanding local language skills and labor laws is often important for those seeking work in Spain.

What are some common challenges faced by expatriates working in Spain, and how can they adapt to the local work environment?

Expatriates working in Spain often encounter challenges such as language barriers, differences in workplace culture, and adapting to a more relaxed approach to time management. Building Spanish language skills, even at a conversational level, can greatly ease communication and foster relationships with colleagues. It’s also helpful to understand local workplace norms, such as valuing personal relationships and the importance of work-life balance. Joining professional networks and seeking mentorship from both local and international colleagues can smooth the transition and help with career advancement.

Job description

Volunteer to Host a Foreign Exchange Student in your town and surrounding areas!!

Benefit from opening your home and heart to an exchange student for a term during the upcoming high school year by:

  • Making life-long friendship connections abroad
  • Giving a young person an opportunity to immerse themselves in our American culture and your family
  • Gaining an international son/daughter
  • Gain new perspectives on our American way of life through the eyes of your exchange student

Choose from these ways to host; for a Semester, or school Year. You don't have to have your own child in high school to host. You may be a Couple, with or without children, Single, Empty-nester or Grandparents. Many different family dynamics make for great hosts.

And yes, you get to pick the student(s) you wish to host by reviewing our student profiles. Our exchange students, ages 15-18, have worked hard to be accepted into our program and are waiting now to be selected by their US host family.

This year's NWSE exchange students come from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and more! They arrive with English fluency, travel medical insurance and their own spending money. We ask our hosts to provide a loving, caring environment, 3 meals per day and a bedroom, which can be shared with a host sibling of the same gender 12 and up. Students attend the high school your home is zoned for.
