About the role

Based in our Country Office in Madrid, Spain, the Communications Manager will work within the European Marketing & Corporate Responsibility function at TJX Europe, playing a critical role within the Country Marketing Spain team to deliver a holistic communications strategy and activation plan (PR, Influence, Social, Experiential and Branded Content) for the TK Maxx brand.

This is an exciting, dynamic, and varied management role focused on the development and delivery of brilliant on-brand communications to support achievement of annual sales and business goals.

The Communications Manager will lead by example, directing and managing agency partners whilst acting as an ambassador for TJX and what it stands for.

The Communications Manager is responsible for developing communications for a range of business stakeholders across the Marketing & Corporate Responsibility and Spain Country Marketing function. Under the guidance of the Manager of Country Marketing Spain, the role holder will develop and execute the communications strategy and plans for our Spain business.

This role requires a good understanding of communications (PR, Social, Influence, Experiential and Branded Content). The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong commercial understanding and relevant retail experience.

The Communications Manager will report to the Manager of Marketing Spain.

This position is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 9 months

Who you are

  • Strategically lead, develop and activate impactful, robust and measurable country communications plans that drive brand awareness, brand education and footfall in line with business goals and priorities

  • Management of in-country agency partners to develop and deliver communications activity in market

  • Manage our Spanish consumer social media accounts that drive engagement, brand love and awareness through paid and organic content. Set strong and relevant content plans for the Spanish market which keep alignment on a European level.

  • In collaboration with our agency network, drive brand love and advocacy by creating and delivering impactful influence collaborations and building long-term relationships in market.

  • Partner with cross-functional internal teams and regional/market stakeholders to ensure alignment of the European strategies on a local level.

  • Innovate and maintain up to date knowledge of communications from wider industry sources within Spain and across Europe.

  • Diligent budget management for the annual TK Maxx communications budget, inclusive of PO management and budgetary planning/phasing, keeping costs within plan

  • Work within a European framework partnering with internal key business partners to deliver and measure strategic communications across multiple in-country marketing disciplines.

  • Partner with key functions across the Spanish business to uncover commercially led communications opportunities across our store base

  • Make sure new store opening marketing plans deliver strong and relevant communication plans to support for opening day and beyond

  • Reporting and metrics lead to ensure actionable insights and best practice across all communications

  • Develop and activate a corporate responsibility communication plan for the Spain, working with key marketing functions and our national charity partner

  • Working with the Manager of Marketing Spain and wider European Marketing & Corporate Responsibility team to define and manage communications processes, ensuring that they are efficient and integrated. Adjust processes and ways of working as the business evolves

  • To deputise (when required) for the Manager of Marketing Spain and cascade relevant information

  • To report, control and monitor the communications annual budget, whilst pro-actively anticipating future challenges or opportunities impacting budget

What youll bring

  • Fluent in English - proven excellent writing and presenting skills.

  • At least 5 years professional experience in the creation and delivery of a communications strategy (PR, social, influence), deploying integrated and effective projects and plans that generate substantial profile and coverage

  • Experience leading teams or agencies to deliver successful tactics

  • Solid project management skills with the ability to influence stakeholders

  • Experience of working with task management tools: Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs

  • Experience of working with social media & influencer measuring tools

  • Strategic thinker, able to understand context and connect dots to stay ahead of issues and maximise opportunities

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends, thinking and best practice within communications.

  • Experience of working for consumer brands, preferrable in an international environment

  • Spain market knowledge and a proven ability to work across different cultures

  • Excellent written and verbal communications, content creation and editing skills and expertise across different channels (e.g. press release, social media posts, paid social)

  • Strong storytelling skills and a passion for creating compelling narratives

  • Numerate and commercially astute with a strong drive for results. Able to measure work against business KPIs and effectively manage budgets

  • Proven ability to effectively plan and manage to tight deadlines

  • Prioritises accuracy and strong attention to detail

  • A team player with the ability to build strong and meaningful relations with key internal and external business partners

  • Diplomatic, able to constructively challenge existing thinking whilst building credibility and trust
