    4 East is a 26 private bed Medical Surgical Oncology unit with a separate 6 bed FACT accredited Stem Cell Transplant Unit.ย  The nurse on 4 East will encompass the roles of direct caregiver, educator, consultant, and coordinator of care and will collaborate with other care providers and team members to provide patient/family-centered care.ย ย  A large portion of an oncology nurseโ€™s job is educating cancer patients about treatment options, procedures and particularities of the disease. A nurse on 4 East must be prepared to work with patients who have been diagnosed with life-threatening conditions.ย  Nurses on 4 East help patients and their families work through the treatment process; and are there to provide support if treatment fails and death occurs.
    Job Summary: Nurse RN Staff Med/Surg/Oncology
    Under direction of the Charge Nurse and Nursing Director, the Registered Nurse performs nursing duties on the Medical Surgical Oncology floor.ย  The RN manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
    Minimum Education Graduate of an accredited nursing program
    Required License / Certifications:
    Current Texas RN License
    Current American Heart Association CPR
    Job Requirements / Minimum Nursing Experience:

      • Current Texas RN License
      • Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills
      • 6 months to (1) year experience in a Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) clinical area preferred
      • Ability to safely care for multiple patients
      • Highly motivated and committed to a quality care
      • Flexibility in scheduling (must be able to work every other weekend)
      • Adhere to Customer Service Standards
      • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures
