The Lead Nurse is responsible for overseeing nursing operations within the Cardiac ICU and ensuring the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care. This role combines direct clinical practice with leadership, mentorship, and collaboration to support nursing staff and promote the highest standards of care. The Lead Nurse partners closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes, strengthen operational efficiency, and uphold compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based best practices. Serving as a clinical role model, the Lead Nurse demonstrates professionalism, compassion, and excellence in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, providers, and team members.
The Johns Hopkins Hospital Cardiac Care Unit is a 12-bed intensive care unit specializing in the care of patients with complex and acute cardiac conditions. The unit cares for patients experiencing acute myocardial infarction and related complications such as cardiogenic shock, post-infarction angina, and congestive heart failure. In addition, the team manages critically ill patients with severe cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease, and life-threatening arrhythmias.
Qualifications:
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required at time of hire
  • BLS CPR required
  • 2 year recent high acuity ICU experience preferred; proficient in RN 1, 2, and RN 3 competencies.
  • BSN (Required)

Salary Range: Minimum 47.96/hour - Maximum 74.34/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
