Unit Description:

2A ICU is a 21-bed medical/surgical ICU serving high acuity medical ICU patients. The unit population is cardiac interventions, SARS, Cardiogenic shock,Rotoprone, Post-partum critical care patients and complex care ICUpatientsmost of which have a medical or cardiac diagnosis.

Shift:Full Time, Nights

Job Description:

  • The Registered Nurse (RN) implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a wholepersonand the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.

  • The Registered Nurse (RN) is anexemplarfor compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness.

  • As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:

  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.

  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.

  • Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor's degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.

  • Basic life support- Applicants will have30 daysfrom their hired date to provide completion of this certification if theydon'thave it already.

  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
