Unit Overview:

6B is a23-bedpost interventional telemetry unit. Staff receive specialized training for post catheterization, femoralsheaths,andTikosynadministration. Medical and post-procedural patients are cared for on this unit in addition to complex GI Oncology surgical post-op patients and inpatients needing chemotherapy and telemetry.

Job Description:

  • The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as awhole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.

  • Employee honorspatients'mind, body, and spirit by respecting human dignity and the uniqueness ofeach individual.

  • Nursingpractices are based on evidence and currentresearch,as well as hospital and department policies andprocedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.

  • Clinical decision-making incorporates all fourphases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through helping relationships among nursing staff and across other disciplines.

  • The Registered Nurse is anexemplarfor compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting anenvironment focused on healing and wellness.

  • As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/hertime (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provisionof nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities;provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning asapplicable, etc.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:

  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.

  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.

  • Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor's degree program and musthave achieved the degree within 5 years.

  • BasicLifeSupport-Applicants will have30 daysfrom their hired date to provide completion of this certification if theydon'thave it already.

  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
