Northcrest Nursing and Rehab is opening a brand-new Ventilator Care Unit, and weโ€™re looking for committed Registered Nurses (RN)ย ready to step into a rewarding, high-acuity clinical role. Whether you have vent experience or are brand new to respiratory care, you will be fully trained and competency-checked by our Respiratory Therapy Directorย to ensure you feel confident and supported.

This is a consistent dayshift, 12-hourย role in a modern, resident-focused specialty unit.

Position Summary

As an RN in a Long-Term Care Vent Unit provides high-acuity nursing careย to ventilator- and trach-dependent residents. This role blends strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and compassionate leadership. You will work closely with our Respiratory Therapy Director, Respiratory Therapists, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team. You will work alongside the Charge Nurse and CNA's to provide respiratory care and support.ย 

Training & Support

  • Full ventilator and trach-care training provided

  • You will be trained and fully competency-verified by our RT Director

  • Ongoing support, refreshers, and clinical guidance available anytime

  • Ideal for RNs who want to expand their clinical skills in a specialty area

Primary Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Perform comprehensive nursing and respiratory assessments

  • Monitor ventilator settings, alarms, and changes in condition

  • Provide trach care, sterile suctioning, and airway management

  • Administer respiratory medications and treatments accurately

  • Document assessments, progress notes, and care plans

Respiratory Support

  • Collaborate closely with RTs and our RT Director

  • Respond promptly to respiratory distress or changes in status

  • Participate in vent weaning programs as appropriate

  • Maintain infection control standards around all respiratory equipment

Communication & Leadership

  • Assist with new unit workflow development

  • Maintain a calm, safe, and resident-centered environment

Safety & Compliance

  • Uphold all regulatory requirements

  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement efforts

  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting practices

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Ohio

  • Ventilator or high-acuity experience a plus, not required

  • Strong clinical assessment skills

  • Ability to remain organized and calm in a fast-paced unit
