Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 2- our Medical Oncology unit in Charlottesville, VA. Ideal candidates will have acute care nursing experience in a similar scope of practice.
Shifts Available:
Full-Time Day shift (three 12-hour shifts)
Full-Time Night Shift (three 12-hour shifts)

Cornell 2: Our Medical Oncology Unit specializes in surgical Oncology, urology, vascular, and chest tube care, providing a dynamic environment for experienced nursing professionals. With a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5/1:6, you'll develop your skills while receiving mentorship from experienced staff. We care for a diverse patient population, including those with CHF, COPD, oncology patients with neutropenia or new diagnoses, and amputations. Operating on 12-hour shifts with weekend rotations, we offer comprehensive orientation and ongoing professional development to foster collaboration and growth in your nursing career. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Education
  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.

Certification/Licensure
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Oncology Care - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire.

Experience
  • None required
  • 1 year of acute care nursing experience (preferred)
  • Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
