Bridgeway is looking for a Registered Nurse to oversee our Medication Administration Training Program.

Bridgeway is looking for a Registered Nurse to provide leadership and oversight for medication administration training program. This role upholds training standards set forth by Illinois Department of Human Services for direct care staff in community housing and specific community settings. In this role you will conduct health assessments, monitor medication records and provide clinical supervision and education of direct care staff regarding medical and psychiatric needs of clients.
To learn more about this position, please read the summarized list of duties below:
  • Provide at least annually, or as needed, medication self-administration retraining to all residential staff. Retrain direct care staff as medications change.
  • Develop and implement training program for direct care staff in residences to provide direct care or treatment to consumers, to administer/distribute medications and provide medication self-administration training to customers.
  • Evaluate annually each consumer's ability to self-medicate through use of the DHS required standardized screening and assessment instruments.
  • Develop written protocols for all PRN medication utilized by residential consumers.
  • Assess each consumer's physical and mental status on an annual basis or more frequently as needed; provide direction to staff regarding medical issues of consumers.
  • Coordinate and monitor inventory records for all controlled substances within the residential program.
  • Provide medical-nursing on-call services for residential consumers in Macomb and Pekin on a rotating schedule.

Minimum requirements include an Associate's degree in Nursing or equivalent from an accredited nursing program resulting in RN certification and a registered nurse license; possess 2 years clinical RN experience within the last 5 years, one of which preferably includes experience with developmental disabilities. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent from an accredited nursing program; possess 2 years clinical RN experience within the last 5 years, one of which preferably includes experience with developmental disabilities. Must successfully complete the DHS Nurse-Trainer Medication Administration Training Program provided by the Department of Human Services in order to become a Nurse Trainer within 6 months of hire. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and meets organization's insurability requirements. Employment with Bridgeway is conditional upon completion of all background checks.
