Department: Packaging & Shipping

Reports to: Packaging & Shipping Supervisor

Purpose of Position:

To communicate with customer truck drivers and arrange for loading of trucks.

Prioritize dock times, assign lot numbers and allocate inventory to bulk and bag

shipments as needed. Conduct final inspection of trucks and prepare all shipping

documents.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Communicate with customer truck drivers.

2. Assign lot numbers and allocate inventory for bulk and bag shipments as needed.

3. Assign trucks to loading docks and prioritize loading.

4. Conduct pre-shipment inspection of bag trucks.

5. Prepare all shipping documents for trucks including using Ross, Cardinal and IFS software.

6. Conduct final inspection of bag trucks.

7. Seal all bag trucks before departure.

8. Inspect incoming freight and sign for receipt.

9. Generate master shipping sheets from the computer daily.

10. Communicate with the transportation department, other shipping clerks and customer service on shipping details.

11. Communicate with customer truck dispatchers on shipment status.

12. Maintain shipment records as assigned.

13. Perform all other duties as assigned by the leader or designate.

14. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

15. Conduct daily inspection of the work area and report conditions as required.

Operate forklift as required.

Load Bag Trucks as required

Enter Work Orders in IFS

Other duties as assigned


Measurements Performed/Tools & Gauges:

Weigh Trucks/Truck Scales

Machines & Equipment Involved:

Truck Scales, Forklifts, Bulk Trucks, Bag Trucks and Front End Loader.

Working Conditions:

The majority of the work is performed in an indoor environment. Clerk is exposed to

temperature variations, and exposed to limited amounts of dust. Requires operation

of forklifts. Overtime is required. Personal health and safety protection is required, including head, eye and foot protection.

Qualifications:

Education:

The job also requires the ability to read and write and perform basic math at the high school level.

Verbal communication skills with listening and comprehension skills are required.

Must be able to qualify as a forklift operator.

Experience - (Preferred Background):

Previous forklift driving and equipment operation experience in a production or warehouse environment is desirable. Previous experience with the Cardinal System and general computer skills are preferred.
